  1. I've been using it for probably 10-15 years now and it is in it's simplicity just the best.
  2. That might be the first Beemax I really would like to have/buy.
  3. Robert, It might not be the best excuse, but English is my third language; it is still a learning process. I think panelgaps might be a better description. Sorry about that. On the other hand though; there are no (visible) panellines on a XK-E anyway. And where that tutorial lacked pictures ( I made it 11 years ago!); eventually I will work on a new tutorial with some descriptive pictures. I do want to advice to follow the tutorial, as that is a fragile piece of the body and you don't want it to crack after the build is finished. Good luck!
  4. One day, hopefully not too far into the distant future, I'll come up with a better tutorial for the seam lines: http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/building-tutorials/6549-cracking-code-getting-rid-xke-panellines.html
  5. I have this kit at home, and I can tell you; it is not worth the extra bucks on the electronics. Over here in Europe, the latest issue of the 1/16 beetle was about 40 euro's, this issue is about 150 euro's. Which indicates about 100 euro's for the electronics. Which isn't much really; it has some nice indicating wiring harnesses, a 'motherboard' and a batteryholder and a couple of small LED's, (no fiberoptics though). But no, not worth that much money.
  6. Than it was time to deal with the back side With a fresh coat of white paint, it looks a whole lot better. The windscreen was also a bit of a hassle, since it was somewhat warped. Working on assembling the interior parts The grille didn't coorperate either Some light in the end of the tunnel! The cab got on the chassis and now I have to start working on the trailer, getting it ready for paint and putting it on the chassis, finishing this project. I only got till march 16th...
  7. Work has been really busy lately and I find little time to work on this project, let alone post something about it. But today was kind for me, I was able to mount the cabin on the chassis and clearcoated the chassis of the trailer. And I even has some time left to share some pictures with you. I had to make a longer propshaft, I used some copper tubing for that. And used the kit joints The engine was clearcoated and I started some basic detailling I made a simple belt from a sticker Small Jump, the engine went into the chassis and added the other parts, the turbo set-up from Italeri was quite a hassle, it didn't reallt fit properly I went on working on the interior, I chose some typical early eighties colors for it. The chassis is rolling! With some use of the Molotow pens, I added some clamps Becasue the size of the trailer, I am affraid my biggest airbrush (Harder & Steenbeck Colani) is not going to be sufficient, so I got myself a SATA minijet 4400 HVLP gun, if needed, it could even spray a real car. After I clearcoated the cabine, some weird orange/pink hue was in the back end of the cab in my clear paint, never seen it before, never had to deal it before and no I idea where it came from. It is definately not overspray and it is in my clear paint, weird... Since I discovered whilst masking for the windowtrim, I first airbrushed that.
  8. Over here, the majority of trucks on our roads are one-axled, dual drive is a rarity for a truck and trailer combo. And sice it was some sort of replica, I had to follow the one axled concept ;-) Where my knowledge lies with cars and such, I must admit I have not that much experience with trucks. Where I couldn't find sufficient info about what I was working on, I used my logic from cars and later I found out, it wasn't always the right choice haha. But they are good learning moments for the next build. And with these two points the same thing; I will not be making those errors again! thanks.
  9. Didn't it also had something to do with Geronimo Works? I vaguely remembers that Gio guy was from Geronimo, they also released a Renault 5 Turbo.
  10. If I could afford these kind of cigars on wheels; I'd prefer (being slight patriotic) the Donkervoort D8 GTO. Way, way , way evolved version of the Lotus concept: and yes, this company has some serious pedigree, not a cheap knock-off
  11. that is a very steep price, you can find them new in box way under that, probably even under 500. Don't get me wrong, I respect Amy's work in selling her dad's collection, but some of the pricing are very high. I hear you, I bought the 911 too, knowing how bad it was. But I am also convinced, that with some hard work and scratchbuilding, it can be made into a nice model, the base is there.
  12. I heard of pricing around 300 euro's, which is considerably less than 526. I guess we'll have to wait until they hit the shelfs and tell what they cost for real. I have two and wouldn't mind a thrid or fouth, but not at 500.
  13. I loved the guy that used to be a service rep explaining to me what the timing belt is for. I never knew that if the belt wears off, the engine starts to overheat. Silly me always thought that if the timing belt snapped, the pistons could bend the valves and cause serious internal damage. I am glad he put that urban legend down
  14. That saves me from a lot of digging : thanks haha
  15. From what I understood, mainly the engine bay is different. I should receive both 356's anyway, so I can compare them when they come in. Didn't know he did, going to search for that build. From the sound of it, seems like a nice new kit.
  16. I was hoping of some pictures of the Porsche 356 from Revell, but it might be too soon for that. One other things that is interesting, is the Ford GT. The snap kit has about 27 parts, but Revell shows a Ford GT with 120 parts, which indicates a glue kit.
  17. I'd consider this kit a multi-media, rather than die-cast. Only a few detail parts, like the exhaust is diecast. IMHO, this is one of the most delicate and intrigueing kits around. But yes, a small car never get's large, not even in big scale haha.
  18. From what I could find, the original was released in 200 and sold for about 150 dollars, the cycle wing was about 200-ish. Don't hold your breath, but if they are releasing this one, you can bet on it that the cycle wings are going to be released as well. I am fortunate to have this one and the JPE, but I also would like the BDR cycle wing. If you have the JPE version, it has a Vauxhall engine. Tamiya didn't go the easy way on that.
  19. poop, now I have to get one of those too..... Not that I would mind though..
