  1. @Kit KarsonIt’s been a minute since we’ve seen an update here?
  2. Kurt you are continually adding more wow to this build. The chassis alone would be a showcase piece for me.
  3. I’ll be following as well, kinda kean on the 32 myself lol.
  4. @bill-e-boythank you. Been a hell of a week here so no new updates, hope to have some time on Sunday.
  5. @Dennis Lacy now after seeing yours I see you went with a much easier ignition system, I could only find one picture as a reference so I went with a cam fired dist set up lol. Crank fired is way more direct. I like it.
  6. Looks real sharp Dennis, it’s all tying together nicely.
  7. Have you ever gotten so completely sidetracked that you take on an entirely different tack. Banger four’s intrigue me to no end, found a pic and said well let’s try that lol. So here we have an ardun head banger four lol. It may come together with some paint and go in a future model A project, but it sure killed a couple of hours on a boring Sunday morning where I have been trying for motivation of a couple of lingering projects including the closed cab pickup.
  8. Will you be creating substructures for the engine plates to attach to the frame?
  9. A noble cause for a build!
  10. Can’t wait to see this all together Kurt. The level of skill on this is astounding.
  11. Dennis, you are making me want to pull my last chopped 3 window out of its box and completely redo the whole thing. Lots of tasty ideas.
  12. Looks great just in primer.
  13. Not a lot to report today, but we have engine and transmission mounts, the front engine mounts are recycled from the model a 4 banger mounts and the trans mount is made from a part of the rear spring hump. Now the flattie fits perfect and lines up nicely for the torque tube. A little more file n paper and I can call this sub assembly done. Next step in this process will be firewall and floor.
  14. David the bed mount mods facilitate the z’ed frame so that the rear end can be lower. The tan one is box stock minus the cab visor. It became detached in one of my moves and subsequently lost. The red kit does not have one at all, as the kit was missing some pieces, the instructions do not call for it either.
  15. Thanks Craig, I suppose I could steal the ones from my old build, but I’m not exactly going for 100% box stock here. And you are correct about the 80’s version it only has the billet rims. And if I go with the vision of a high school hot rod, who said the kid had enough dough to get a matching set of wheels haha.
  16. @Tcoat y’know Tony there is a saying about minds like ours lol. Sorry for the hijack Bob.
  17. I might be alone on this. But I find that some models after they have been in the strip tank have a unique faux patina that if a person did it right could make a pretty interesting finish. but that’s just me lol. Carry on Bob, a pro street will be neat. What’s under the hood?
  18. Fantastic work Dennis!
  19. I’m trying to recycle every off cut piece from this kit as much as possible, here the engine mounts have been trimmed and moved forward, I could have made new ones from styrene sheet, but I’m trying to be a slight craftsman and make the frame as if it wasn’t going to be painted. Battery box will be removed as I need to make/recycle a trans mount in that location. Second photo shows a little more parts bin digging and I have a closer representation of the box art wheels, sadly not a matching set but they do look close.
  20. There is a story board playing in my head for this little vignette and it is not entirely pg friendly. Let’s say it has something to do with a trade deal for the contents of the bed!
  21. Thank you Bob, I know the flatties were somewhat underpowered compared to the ohv engines of the day, but I just love the way they look, so I try to incorporate them as often as I can. Thank you Dennis, I think that the right set of wheels/tires either makes it breaks a model and monogram did some great combos in the sixties, it almost hurts me to break them from the kits. Thank you David, I’m glad that at least one of my modelling ideas helps at least one person. It may not be 100% accurate but it looks a lot better and is easier to keep them neat n tidy. Thank you Alex, the hardest time for me in any build is colour selection. Thanks Jim, I did say ignore the frame ?
  22. So using some tricks I learned I started on the frame and fender modifications. And while I was digging through my engine stash the other night while organizing I came across an engine that intrigues me. I rarely see it in any builds… But I’ll keep that in my back pocket for a little while. It’s not a Ford. It does fit rather well, and It could use some nice detailing.
  23. Extreme close up of the plug wires with the tube from the distributer. Next is to attach boots to the plugs and then insert the wires. Please ignore the ugliness on the frame it will be hidden again when the fender aprons go back on.
  24. Will do Jim, and thank you
  25. Funny you should say flathead Craig, I was doing some parts inventory and cleanup the other day…
