Nice craftsmanship there Dennis, the amt 36 kit is one of my personal favourites, I’ll be following.
-
I was thinking on that a little earlier this evening, and I mocked up the kit 34 5 window body to make sure it wasn’t just the revell body being a tad shorter. I think the solution is to pull the rear member 2 mm closer to the front. Or as simple as reversing the rear spring mount.

Good eye Larry, they are from a 70 release kit, it was missing a lot of parts, so I decided it could lose a couple more. Thank you for the kind comment. Thanks Jim, I’ll do my best to keep it looking period correct haha. I have the suspension dialled to where I like it. Now it’s to finish the body work and then decide on the interior. I think I have a colour that may work and an engine that I will like.

@Can-Con Steve a perfect clean black roadster. Love it. -
Knowing when to pause is a skill, helps avoid the trash bin haha.

Thank you triple R, I have no other source to compare it against the only other body close to it is the 34 5 window, and for all intents I can only find (besides the too short nose(and thats already been hacked and binned)) the overall length of the body matches, as does the width. But again I’m comparing apples to kumquats. For my eyes it’s as close as I’m going to get. I wish there was a better body out there.

Ken there are days that I doubt the abilities of my “grey matter” haha. Like last night I hacked up three different firewalls trying to make it look better, to only go back to the first choice again.

I could not agree more Carl. At least now I can start working on the finer details.

Hot Rod Hauler
Bullybeef replied to Tarkmucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I like where you are going with this, I built a similar hauler last year using a 37 cab. I think your ride height is pretty spot on, any lower and would not appear to have any useful suspension travel. -
Trying to keep it sort of original looking, I actually Like the stock firewall. And with some evergreen stock I managed to get it to where I can work with it again.

I’ll ask you one question, will the fix be visible? If the answer is no the carry on lol.
-
Interesting concept Jim, i’m sure you have the skills to fix this oops.
-
So many details, it’s hard to keep up with them all. Just goes to show that you can pretty much build a complete model with 3D printing. Cool build.

Thank you Dennis, it was fun to flex a different and (rusty) set of skills. It was extremely helpful that this car has had a lot of internet coverage so matching up details was a lot more rewarding. I imagine that the current caretaker would like to see this but I’m not forward enough to contact a stranger and show this off. But if you know the gentleman please feel free to send them. Nahhh, someday I’ll build an outstanding model. Thank you, i agree it’s great to see a lot of traditional hot rods on the forum. I’ll do my best to keep adding as many as I can.

The Race of Gentlemen '29 Ford A-V8 Roadster
Bullybeef replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Model Cars
Well done Bernard, really like how it turned out. -
Well we will be ditching the stock suspension pieces for two reasons, lack of detail and the ability to modify them successfully I’ll be using the stock 34 frame but will upgrade to the suspension from the 37 truck. Yes it will be a heavy duty compared to passenger cars but for all intents and purposes it looks right. I did find a dropped front axle in the bins and it looks the part for me. I deepened the spring perches in the stock frame and it lowered the front and rear about 1.5 mm, the front dropped axle dropped the front a further 2.0 mm so we will have a definite improvement in ride height. I’ll have some more pics of the rolling chassis a bit later.

Well now that’s something new, I applaud your efforts, if I did t know better I would swear I was looking at a hand drawn 2d model. Fantastic paint work.
