  1. Here is one that I built in JUNIOR HIGH! The art class teacher, MR Greenwell, was convinced by a certain person (ahem) that model building is an art and allowed us a few weeks to build models and get graded. He gave me an A-. I was disappointed.
  2. PayPal shipping using UPS is a few bucks less expensive than EBay's per my last two transactions.
  3. Right now I still have Paypal with ebay, although I expect that to change....so it is the same old way for a person like myself with Paypal, it goes immediately into my account. This may not last long however. And when they force me to change, I am out, as the fees go from 10% to 12.5 percent.... Edited to understand PP now takes 3% versus the additional 2.5% over the 10 that ebay takes according to anoter poster above. And I wasted a lot of time last weekend reading this stuff.....I haven't sold much on ebay until just lately and things sure seem to have gotten expensive...Jeez.
  4. What are the details on this? What did you start with, and what modifications were done to get this look? The tree know and Mercury were quite different bodies, and yours looks great - I want one too!
  5. Beauty, love the color and the detail you did on the grille, headlight side trim, and rear panel....looks awesome and that detail makes the model!
  6. Mike, beautiful work and awesome subject matter! You have owned some beautiful cars in your life, congratulations! Perhaps there is or can be a thread started, where people can post replicas of cars and trucks they have owned...you may have started something!
  7. Among other details, today I polished a windshield for a rehab I am working on. There were glue slobs on it, so I started with an x-acto and lightly took the glue down, then sanded with 600 to start.... I was not expecting exact results, and didn't get them as the glue from 30 plus years was etched into the clear plastic. So I started with the 2400, 3200, then the 3600 and all the way to finish. It is good enough for what I am doing.
  8. I don't know my AH cars, but this was a Revell kit that I built. Is the 3000 a different body than this?
  9. I Thank you all. (Didn't Freddie Mercury say something like that?) Anyway, the paint on the Auto Union, jeepers it was so long ago, but I believe it was Testors out of the can "chrome" paint. It is delicate so that you can't get greasy fingerprints on it, but laid real nice. I painted just today, with some of the last spray can of model master "aluminum plate" that you can polish up, and I think that THAT would be a nice finish on that car. For Straightliner59, here are a few more images of the car so that YOU want to build it yourself and enjoy.
  10. Beautiful collection you have built. Love the subject matter, especially the Buicks!
  11. Straightliner59. Not bad really, check out my new best of 2020 thread I have a picture of it in there. I am new here, so don't have build up details, but if you can get one, it is not NEARLY as difficult as Kurt's trials and tribulations here!
  12. I finished a few, and started even more - to add to the about 10 that are currently in progress! A 1/32 E Type built for a good buddy, who had this as a road car when we met way back in the days of the rally club. This was given to me and is an old MPC via Airfix Kit. Another 1/32 (what the hell is wrong with me?) Matchbox kit that sat painted for 10 years.... I think you guys saw this already, another weird scale, 1/16 Revell kit via Fujimi. Another difficult kit with poor fitting body panels. A quickie (still took months for me to complete) "In Between Days" Monogram 1/24 And Finally, this took 40 years to complete (LOL) started this when I was a kid, and old AMT kit that sat in a box with cracking opera window fillers - this notoriously is a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH kit that I used some liberty to make it "look right". And one Fujimi kit modified to Tomi Makkinen Evo 6.5 status on the scratch built front fascia.
  13. Kurt, that model looks awesome! The subject matter is fascinating, isn't it? I built the 1/32 scale Matchbox model this year and did the research and enjoyed reading about the cars as much as building the kit. I never liked these before but now, a higher appreciation of the engineering involved. You have some deep patience and are rewarded with a nice model to show.
  14. Awesome find! Going to order some in the first Amazon order of 2021!
  15. Has anyone ever found a blade handle with reverse threads? You righties may be asking what the heck???? The blade loosens up after just a few pulls for left handed users as the barrel rotates. Now, at way too old to learn new tricks, I just started putting tape on the knurled barrel and the handle.
  16. Awesome! Thanks. And for reference, I like using period photos, not the current restored cars - I notice they are updated in some areas, however they are still cool as heck.
  17. Ian I should post up the restoration. Perhaps we can share reference photo links as there seems to be relatively little detail imagery on the net for the business end of the 312B. I am taking liberties to do what I feel is right in some spots. What color do you really think the upper rear bulkhead should be, black or "aluminum"? The part that the rear shocks attach to? I can't really tell.
  18. OK, well you know. You guys got me interested in this subject. "Now is zink I go do zomething". With that out of the way, are the Aoshima and Beemax the same kit? Are these made in Japan? The body in the photos looks a little strange but the build up looks great. I want to get the JB version when this kit comes out. Many stories to tell.
  19. Ian, that's crazy rivet detail work! You have my attention and we are watching you now, so we will be keeping up with your progress. I am working this kit again, and is on my bench as well. Except mine is a restoration job from when I built it as a teen, but don't want to go into such detail like yours. Those rear cooler scoops are tough, to get the front openings nice and clean is a bit challenging. I went with a flat white paint on mine and may semi gloss over them. The flat white lays nicely and hides a bit of imperfection.
  20. Looks great - I have a few of these in the stash...good to see another IndyCar or Champ Car on the modeling sites! Came out looking "smokin' "
  21. Things got more lines than Phyllis Diller. Looks good in black at night though. I can see a lot of these highly modified with added bits and pieces - then it will look cool with the body parts off and mechanicals exposed....
  22. Robert, the CERVIII was a prototype, more of a production intent Corvette Indy. The design was similar however it was way less attractive and sophisticated in reality, as engineering got involved to make things work....very common for GM back then. However, notice this thing could be road ready pretty easily, and is taller, longer and more slab sided, but packed with real cool technology. And in technology, I am not talking about today's BS technology like big distraction screens and beeping seats and water coolers... The rounded Camaro followed the Corvette Indy design theme pretty much.
  23. Spence, awesome work on the open doors and the engine compartment detail as well. That kit does not have an opening rear hatch, and your work looks like it was designed that way! You have a lot of extra detailing in the rear. I built this kit, and yes, it builds up very nice. Good to see someone else accomplish the task, with beautiful added detail to boot.
  24. Ha thanks for the tip Danno. I will have to look for some eclectic electric models then....I already have a BMW i8 in my stash.
