Got some work done on the C20 over the weekend, between yardwork and other projects. Unfortunately, I ruined the cab I was working on and had to start over. That cost me about 4 hours. ? I think this one looks a little better though, but I am still bothered by the visible gap/outline where the big window would be. Any ideas on how to fill that? I tried medium super glue last night and ended up with a wide bead that looked terrible and I couldn't sand it without destroying the adjacent detail. So, new cab. I got the chassis painted, still some detail to go back & do. Also painted some of the body with the chalky white paint, including the converted long bed. I'm happy with the long bed conversion. I played around with sanding and rubbing the paint on the spare roof from the second kit, which will now be the roof I use since I have to use the cab from that kit. I kind of like the weathering/aged look of the paint worn away to primer and I may just use it as-is, except that I need to do a little more work on the right rear corner where the rubbing is too linear. Any comments/advice on the weathering are welcome.

Because of this I have sworn to never buy a Rustoleum product again. I despise the corporate takeovers and subsequent ruining of old, quality companies. I've tried to stock up on what I can and noticed there isn't much out there. Time to figure out what replaces the old standby. Sorry, I guess this isn't particularly helpful but I had to vent.

That turned out great. Nice piece for a diorama.

This one isn't a long bed, but the small window was much more common from what I recall seeing on the road in the '60s and '70s. This was the AMT '55 Chevy stepside kit, I built this about 25 years ago. Dechromed, small window conversion, side mounted spare tire and straight 6-cylinder "Thriftmaster" engine.

That is absolutely fantastic. I love the choice of the nailhead. Just a wonderful job there and a great looking T rod. Superb!

I packed everything up 25 years ago because life got busy and I couldn't enjoy the hobby anymore. I wanted to do some building several times over the years but just wasn't set up to build to my satisfaction. I finally have a decent setup and started building again. I'm glad I kept my tools and the majority of my kits. I will enjoy this hobby in retirement. But I plan to just build for me. (well, my wife actually loves the model cars too, so that's a bonus). I won't win any contests, but I will do the best I can with my skills, physical abilities and as much patience as I can muster up. I enjoy what I have on the shelf now and hope to continue in that vein.

That is a lot of work. I don't know that I could do it, or would have the patience to see it through. Good luck with your project. Looks fun! -

That's what I do so that I can get an idea of what things are really selling for. I can't imagine spending that kind of money (hundreds of dollars) on any model kit, but I guess there isn't any one kit that means that much to me. I'll just build something else. There are so many subjects I want to build, I will stay busy for years with "affordable" models. But then I'm not what you would consider a "collector" either.
