'40 Ford Early '60s Style/Remembering a Friend

Thank you. I am impressed with that particular Testor's paint. Funny, I found that can at Goodwill for $1.99 a couple of years ago. Do you thin the enamel with off the shelf lacquer thinner? I've only used Testors airbrush thinner that I bought years ago and I'm running out. Is it the blue bottle of clear that you are using? By the way, your Avatar is my favorite... I've seen that picture before. Looks like that would have been a fun night to be at the pub! -
I have an '87 F250 4x4 with the 4.9 and granny 4-speed trans. It's a cool old truck. I pulled the slobbering big six last summer and did a complete reseal and bearings. It'll probably run another 33 years.

Anyone know if a '60-'66 Chevy long bed pickup model kit was ever made? One of my old WIPs was converting two short beds to a long bed. I pulled that one out of the box recently and wasn't happy with the work from 15-20 years ago. I think I can save it, but just curious whether a long bed was ever made. I'm guessing one of the aftermarket resin companies probably supplied the pieces to build one?

Thanks Josh! Yes, always an opportunity to learn... more often than not the take-away is to slow down and don't push it. -
LOL, yeah, a couple of acres here as well. No end to the projects.

Looking great. The airbrush is a game changer. Are you using regular "off the shelf" lacquer thinner? I'm running out of testors air brush thinner I bought 25 years ago and need to figure out what to thin the enamels with. -
That is a fantastic rendition of a rare and unique car. It's always fun to model based on a specific car. Nice job!

Yeah, I have to agree with you there. I don't want to risk messing it up. I've already stripped the body once! ? -
To be honest, most of these arrived yesterday. The C600 US Mail truck arrived today. A couple of others arrived over several days. I decided to post a group photo. There's something about the older "made in USA" ☺️ kits.

Very cool idea. Those two look like they belong together. -
Thank you for sharing. Great to see those smiles and the pride in having done something creative.

Very nice display and nice cars making good use of it.

Great haul! Some really cool models there. I used to own a 1:1 '65 Wildcat convertible, would like to find a model someday myself.

That's hideous! I love it! The weathering is awesome. The skeleton arms holding the mirrors are a great touch. Well done! -

That's a great question as I haven't done any clear coating since the mid-'90s, before my 25-year hiatus from the hobby. That green is just the Testors paint, no clear. I decanted and airbrushed it. The bottle on the left below is what I used to airbrush when I clear coated, it's from the mid-90s. The bottle on the right is one I just bought a couple weeks ago. The ingredients are different and I'm afraid like so many things the new stuff won't be as good. The old stuff has really yellowed (I think... I don't recall how clear it was, but I don't think it was amber-ish like that). It's amazing that it didn't dry up in all these years of storage. I may have to start an airbrush enamel clear coat thread to find out what others are using. -
I had the misfortune of being considered "essential" throughout COVID. They must not be paying attention to what I actually do. ? All of your models are just fantastic! Very, very well done on them all. I'm wondering where the 8-lug steel rims and skinny traction tires came from? I have the F100 4x4 but want to do an F250 with those wheels & tires. Axles too, I see you have the full floating rear.
