  1. That's fantastic. Super nice detailing and weathering. Love it!
  2. I like it. Very nice, clean build and good color choice.
  3. Same here, I have at least a half-dozen serious WIPs. In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with working on multiple projects if that's what keeps you going. I like the variety, and the renewed sense of enthusiasm when I set one aside and pick up another to gain some yardage on it. The F100 is looking good, Mike. Watching this is making it hard not to crack mine open and have yet another WIP on the bench!
  4. Nooooooo! Not the G8! ?
  5. I go right past stupid shipping prices. A car model costs $11.00 to ship. A larger truck model might be $15.00. I see $35.00 and think "good luck". There are deals to be had on ebay. I've gotten some. And yes, whether it's a swap meet, the Goodwill, or an estate sale, everyone is looking at ebay to see what they can "get" for an item. Problem is that they are usually looking at a listing, not an actual sale price.
  6. politicians still stink
  7. Wow Josh, your attention to detail is phenomenal. Awesome job! This is a fun build and discussion to watch.
  8. Interesting stuff. Thank you Richard. I wonder what ever happened to all of those re-pop cars? I remember building the 1904 Merry Oldsmobile model when I was a kid. I don't know what company produced it though.
  9. May be a sign of addictive behavior. Sad. And like so many things the bubble will burst eventually.
  10. Agreed, no point in bidding before the last 20 seconds. The other thing about these crazy prices is that a $100 model is $125-130 after shipping and sales tax, a $200 model is $230-240, etc. Add 20-25% for the all-in price.
  11. My daily driver, 2000 BMW 740i M Sport, flagship BMW that cost $64k in 2000. I bought it for $4,000 9 years ago, put a timing chain in it and about 80k miles on it. Great car and cheap wheels. One of my favorite cars I have ever owned.
  12. Mercury Grand Marquis I believe.
  13. Good job on the Maverick. Darn hard to find, good idea with the redo.
  14. Well, unlike the rest of you, I didn't screw anything up today. I stayed out of the hobby room and had a Lime-a-Rita on the deck in the sun with my wife. ?
  15. I've seen buyers at live auctions bid things higher than the retail price I am looking at on my phone right at that moment... but hey, they won! It's a strange phenomenon but you can see things get bid to stupid prices, and I'm not necessarily talking just model kits, but anything on ebay or a live auction, because someone hasn't done their research and/or is intent on "winning". The internet has made it so effortless, convenient and painless, and by painless I mean you don't see the cash leaving your hand. I think people sometimes lose touch with reality. Then there are no doubt collectors, too, who are prepared to spend big bucks on a pristine original kit. Whatever. And on the flipside, I won an ebay auction tonight by $0.01 in the last 5 seconds because I was lucky... absolute pure luck... and bid one penny higher than the second high bidder. And it was a good deal. Don't hate me. ?
  16. Captain Morgan fertilized
  17. Beautiful truck, great color combination and superb interior and chassis detailing. Just outstanding in every way!
  18. Nice bunch of trucks. I love that shop diorama with the roll up doors.
  19. What a great bunch of builds. All very nicely detailed and great paint. Great job on all of them. I have about that many WIPs but it seems like I go one step forward and three back.
  20. Same problem, '40 Ford coupe. Primed and then painted metallic gold base coat before the final metallic color. I think I didn't let the primer cure. I was able to scrape the paint and primer off of the body, could even gouge it off with my fingernails. What are people using to strip? I can't get a decent oven cleaner in my area (used to use Mr. Muscle and it worked great). The Super Clean doesn't seem to touch paint or primer. Brake fluid is really slow and marginal results, not to mention slimy and messy. I'm testing a painted scrap piece in drain cleaner.
  21. Looking good. I like the interior colors. I haven't built a semi since I was a kid, but I have some in my stash now, looking forward to doing one. I'd be curious to see a picture of your spray booth. I built one myself a couple of months ago and am using it in the hobby room now. I'm interested to see what other ideas are out there.
  22. I like it. It's a really good likeness of your truck. Nice job, glad you stuck with it despite some setbacks. VICTORY!!!
  23. Looks nice. The wheels do look good with that body. The white interior is a nice contrast. Well done.
