  1. Love the patina and the "overall "beater" look. Nicely done!
  2. Boy, you said it. When I think of the dozens of kits I built as a kid and the fact that they all ended up in the trash... ?
  3. Gorgeous job on that T-bolt. Fantastic work there!
  4. Thank you Walter. I'll look for that one. I like the '65 Riviera.
  5. A hard pass on that one for me. I agree with Rex, the wheels are just wrong. It seems to sit a bit high, too. Not a flattering mod for that body style.
  6. That is a stunning build. Beautiful paint, excellent detail, great wheel & tire combo. Absolutely stunning!
  7. Very imaginative and cool. Nicely done!
  8. I think I figured out how to put a link to a post into a new post. Here's a link to my spraybooth build. It may or may not be helpful. I just happened to have the exhaust fan after a remodel, and free plywood, and too much time on my hands, apparently. It does work very well, though. Actually exceeds my expectations.
  9. Here are a few more shots of my truck. I built this about 25 years ago. The paint is Testors Model Master enamel, air brushed and polished. My biggest challenge has always been dust. I can lay down a glossy paint with the air brush, but inevitably something will float into the paint and I need to polish it out. I've started covering the model immediately with a plastic tub and I think that might help. My spray booth (homemade) is inside the house. I can spray with rattle cans (I use them for primer and engine, chassis parts etc. where I'm not looking for such a smooth, glossy finish) and my wife can't even smell it across the room. I posted my homemade paint booth in the "How To" or FAQ section... I'm not sure how to go find that link while I am writing a post.
  10. I find rattle cans very tough to use for a quality paint job on a body. After changing over to an air brush I was amazed at the difference. In an earlier post you mentioned the bed slats. On my '50 Chevy PU that I built (pic below), I painted the wood and then masked the bed & cut the masking away from the slats and shot body color. You could do the same with chrome paint, or use bare metal foil on the slats.
  11. One of these, '74 Dodge D600 1 1/2 ton flatbed dump... in my driveway but not on the road. Still earns his keep, ol' Ermer does.
  12. 1973 ElDorado I believe. In that condition you'd probably spend $40k to make a $20k car.
  13. X2 on what Casey said. Thin liquid cements changed my modeling life 25 years ago. I wouldn't consider the Testors tube cement myself, though some people do still have a use for it. I can't avoid making a mess with it.
  14. Oh man, that is sooooooo KOOOOOOLL!!! Love those old Studes! Nice job getting that roof shape. Looks great.
  15. Thank you! I will check that out.
  16. Your entire collection of built cars, boxes, and "modelabilia" is jaw-dropping. What an outstanding collection. And what stunning workmanship on your models.
  17. Awesome job on that... Buickamino? You nailed it! I love the look.
  18. This is coming along very nicely and such a high quality, creative build. Charles, could you tell me where you source your stainless wire and brass tubing?
  19. Nice job customizing. The interior looks really nice.
  20. Welcome Gabriel! Your story sounds familiar. I just told my wife the other day that, if I would just follow the instructions and build out of the box, I would actually finish the half-dozen+ projects surrounding my workbench. She said "Well, that wouldn't be any fun for you, would it?" ?
  21. Very nice job, so clean. Great looking car.
  22. Yeah, I'm in the business of surplussing (and buying) cop cars. That's the cleanest looking 'Vic I've seen. That had to be an administrative or detective staff car, not patrol. Very nice. Those things were great cop cars, absolute tanks. All of this new unibody stuff is too fragile and expensive.
  23. I'll bet that has cop tires, cop brakes and cop suspension. But does the cigarette lighter work? Somehow I pictured you to be a Torino man.
  24. Beautiful work! (on both cars). Excellent detail and really clean builds. Just outstanding. Thank you for sharing.
