  1. From the pile of "I'll-finish-it-someday" kits, is this Mustang TransAm build. The flares are thin aluminum sheet. I first made patterns from heavy stock paper. The outer lip is a larger diameter of aluminum wire; superglued in place, and trimmed for length (eventually) and filed all edges. EDIT: In the last pic, is my container of baking soda. It makes a greak "kicker" for the superglue.
  2. OK, the truth is... I am a car slut! I like them all! Well, maybe with the exception of donks, which I view as hideous character of a vehicle, possibly the owners "Big Wheel" fetish?! Some I like more than others, some I would never buy, but they all serve their purpose. Some are for car enthusiasts, while others are nothing more than appliances to get their owners from point A to point B.
  3. I am also having problems with motovation. Lately if I sit at my bench, I just cannot work on the model in front of me. Yesterday, I just packed up that model, and "attempted" to clean up the bench. The box is still there in case I want to start working on it. As for my favorite model? I guess that would be most any one I completed.
  4. I'm fairly certain that I have IE8... the laptop is less than a year old.
  5. When I move the cursor over a title, the title line 'bounces" up, so I reposition the cursor to click on the title. Is this normal function?
  6. Ba-Zinga! You built the one I always wanted! And you did it good!
  7. Bob Downie did a write up on this subject several years back, and I liked it so much, I put it to graphics. I hope Bob doesn't mind.
  8. And with those kit skeletons, they must be easy to cut up to reposition! With Halloween approaching (as someone else previously mentioned) skulls and stuff is out there in the craft stores... these are very close to scale...
  9. Not Mike, but I believe he is suggesting you not spray with the edge of the tape facing you, spray with the tape in the foreground, so you avoid paint build up. Picture the edge of the piece of tape where it meets the area to be painted, but real big... like you were looking through a microscope. A thin piece of tape would look about an inch tall! That 'edge' is where the paint will build up and that is what you want to avoid. More importantly (to me anyhow) is avoid using clear paint on top of white. Some clears will turn yellow over time... especially if you use enamel! I suggest you use lacquers from Tamiya or the newer colors from Testors. There are other sources of lacquers, but for now you may want to stick with a "model friendly" paint brand. HTH
  10. I'm not surprised that they caught on. All those samples going out to residential addresses, and not a single order. At those prices, not too likely to get any from us either!
  11. Maybe you should get rid of something... my name is Jon, not Joe!
  12. I am 54, but I have had one of these for 20+ years... couldn't work without it.
  13. Quote in part: Especially since eBay and PayPal are owned by the same ppl!
  14. About scanning... if any of the graphics are in white, how will scanning help? How can we "capture" white graphics? Also, can clearcoating a decal after trimming make application difficult, if any of the clear... goes over the edge of the paper? This may be more applicable a situation if the clear being used is brush applied, such as Future, etc.
  15. Wasn't that a Blueprinter Special at one time?
  16. Is this real, or wishful thinking? Has this DTR put their logo on anything out there currently?
  17. I got it wrong too! It's a '41...
  18. Looks good, Derek! Keep at it!
  19. 1937 Chevy Pickup: Perhaps you meant to say 1947? No matter, it looks great!
  20. Your opinions on the Spotlight board are on the money. If he put half the effort into improving his board that he instead wastes goose-stepping his paranoia back and forth, it would be a miracle. The place resembles a disjointed police state where heaven (no pun intended) forbid a part may be traded, or a hobby store mentioned and all sorts of drama is stirred up. If it should implode, I hope I get to watch, bag of popcorn in hand.
  21. I found out about it while on Facebook. Glad it's fixed!
  22. Happy birthday, Mark! Don't worry about getting older... 'cause you CAN take it all with you!
  23. REAL nice build! Ditto on what's up with the omission of basic parts on relatively new tooling, such as rear view mirrors, and wipers?
  24. This thread is Bender's favorite
  25. Well I doubt he would want it Taxi Yellow...
