I don't have either the street or drift GTO. It sounds like you may be saying the "drift" variant is the street car with the paint like the 1:1 drift paint scheme? Yeah, that would be mighty lame on PL's part! The drift car is 100% race prepped machine. Of course, PL was just making the most on their new tooling at the time. Still, I'm happy I passed on it.

The '65 Connie had a station wagon option with a big semi-circle clear roof insert.

Try using "Super Clean" (the purple stuff) leaving it soak for at least 48 hours. It may need a scrubbing with an old toothbrush. I avoid any Rustoleum products. It's not made for plastic; I have never seen plastic "rust", with maybe the exception of ###### Cranky's kits

"Bumblebee", a 1977 Camaro from the first "Transformers" movie, is going across the block. Write-up reads, in part: "riveted cowl induction hood scoop, Cragars front, Eric Vaughn Real Wheels in back, Moon decal, T-grip shifter, and an eight-track player. Mileage isn't specified, but it comes with a certificate of authenticity from Bay Films, perhaps one of the few things that ever could. It's expected to bring between $12,000 and $15,000, which seems low."

Marcos, that is some good work you do! Like everyone else said, go ahead and sell for profit! If the buyer mis-represents it in a contest, that is beyond your control. One possibility, perhaps, is to add a painters signature, like on some 1:1 cars, such as "Paint by Cruz", added down low on the back, then clear-coated to seal it. That's the price the buyer pays for not doing their own paint. I would think any honest builder wouldn't have a problem with that.

Jeff, are you referring to the '26 Sedan Delivery? I find no '27 SD kit.

Wish I had thought of that when I was building the old Aurora / Revell GT40 Prototype, re-issued a few years back. I know that I was never going to draw the "rings", even if I tried "stamping" the paint, it would end in disaster. I settled on printing the pattern on a return address label. This was possible because of that particular kit, as the seats were almost "slab" like. After making a black background, I did a grid pattern Using a circle from what little art I had... I pasted it, shrunk it down to size, and then I just kept duplicating the circle, moving each to the correct spot on the grid. Huh! Enlarged, they look like bullet holes! When shrunk down to fit the seat, they looked OK. Maybe a slight bit over-sized. Perhaps with a bit more patience, I could have done a better one. This is meant just as an example of the various ways we try to get what we want or need. This may not work on a more accurately molded bucket seat. A tip of the hat to you for drawing the rivets. Either way, I suspect duplicating the rivets is not an easy task, but not impossible. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to your finished GT40 too!

Remember 'Yoda" from "Spaceballs"? "Merchandising!" When you have a lemon, make lemonaid! Stuck with a 1/48 PBY Catalina that didn't sell too well? If they can somehow ingest the licence cost, Jimmy Buffet owns a PBY Catalina IIRC. Do a decal set for a Carribean Island Hopper. The box art would be key. I know, it's not a car, but it might work. Oh, and if a model kit doesn't sell the first time, someone asked "Why sell it again"? Because... they already paid for the tooling. The tool isn't doing them any good if it's never being used. The more plastic they can inject the mold, the more kits it churns out, the more $$$ goes toward paying for that tooling. I'm not an economist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I plan to soon start only my second chop top in 18 years, I hope it goes better than the scale one-foot thick roof my first chop had! The boys are having a model kit get-together Saturday, and I was thinking of trying something there I have been thinking about. Someone (maybe here?) suggested using three Dremel cut-off wheels sandwiched together, and ‘zip’ the roof off Revell’s new 5-window deuce. Will this work? And more importantly, how do I get all six pillars to line up?

Isn't it just like a bunch of bureaucratic 'business suits' to go to all that trouble to film a clip so... royally irrelevant? What's the point? If you discount every 1959 Chevy you have ever seen in 1:1 that was at, or going to or coming from a car show, I have seen maybe... NONE! Yeah, maybe in SoCal there may be some, but still not enough to verify the film! Yeesh! Politicians & bureaucrats! Use one to start a compost pile!

I think it matters squat what I want… all that matters is what will sell. As others have stated, I think a late- 50’s to mid 60’s Ford Pickup would be possibly the best. A special nod goes to the unibody. I think the truck has the style and character that it takes to catch the eye of the buying public. The second tip of the hat would go to the Series One Bronco. Just be sure to throw something extra in the box that is really unique… I’m not even sure what. Maybe a snowplow, maybe a trailer, maybe something else. The Bronco would be a slightly bigger risk, however. I still think the Ford mentioned above is the safest bet. Whatever they choose, I want to be among the first to thank the model manufacturers in advance!
