  1. So, I'm looking at the comparison pics, then at the 1:1 pics, and I notice... another issue. It's the raised portion of the rear quarter, above the style line. it starts at the back, and goes forward until it comes to a point at the rear door line. The point looks different on both cars. BTW, it won't matter to me.The Revell kits look just as good as the AMT kits, when they are sitting on the shelves, still in the sealed boxes. That's how most of my kits look!
  2. A tip of the hat to both Bill and Ragnar for your endeavors. It's more than I could ever pull off. If the attempt to do a functioning top fails to win the gold, maybe aim for the silver? A fixed position up-top with the framework inside would work. That would give you a frame to try stretching various materials on. If nothing seems to look right for a covering that may work on a functioning top at a later date, then perhaps wide masking tape would suffice for a fixed roof. It's a shame to leave such a masterpiece in a box
  3. You can't go wrong with more reference pics! In fact, I tend to obsess over finding ref pics of whatever I am building. That's how I ended up with so many pics in my Fotki albums.
  4. "I went with real. To the best of my knowledge there is no plastic, rsin or diecast kit of the Solstice. It would take a heck of a scratchbuilder to do it." I have the Maisto 1/24- 1/25 diecast buried around this junkyard of mine here somewhere. I bought it because... there was no other way to get a Solstice in "our" scale. Someday you may buy it at my estate sale!
  5. Don't shoot me please for asking this, as I have yet to dive into a funny car build, but isn't at least one of these funnys the same as the Polar Lights offering from 5 to 10 years ago? I thought they did a Hawaiian?
  6. Jeff- Your build of the Christine Pro Mod was tops! I wasn't aware that you had an issue with someone out there. FWIW, I did save your pics to my Fotki page. If you cannot take new pics, I can always post or link for you, but only with your permission.
  7. Welcome to our cage! It's a good place to swing from the bars For basics, it's all about glue & paint. George touched on that a bit. I would add that you try to avoid any "chemically hot" glue on clear parts. Avoid model glue, and super glue. Use a "white glue" on clear. You could use Elmers glue, but a better choice is a liquid craft glue that you may buy at a store like Michael's. Paint! Never try to get full coverage with the first coat. And if you're painting colored plastic such as red or yellow, you will need a primer. I believe a primer is a good idea no matter what color the plastic is. And, the color of primer does matter. I'm not a fast typer, so I'll pull the plug on this thread here. Ask if you have detailed Q's!
  8. Ken- Your words are right on the money. Good enough to carve in stone. I didn't read the subject of Harry's message, don't need to. Ken's words still apply to all.
  9. I think it may be real. Maybe.
  10. Sharp kitty!
  11. Visible realistic appearing hinges, or can you settle for a way to keep the hood attached to the body, yet functional? Most cars hoods form a point at each rear corner, near the A pillars. Using a fine aluminum wire, glue a short length under the hood at each corner, running length-wise. Have it stick out beyond each corner. Use super glue, or epoxy to attach each wire. Also consider scribing a trough for the wire. Drill slightly oversized holes at the top of the firewall, and feed each glued hood wire through the holes. Bend the wire so the hood stays put. I hope I explained that well.
  12. Awesome hearse done! Another awesome hearse on the way!
  13. What a cool concept! 1/24 rock crawlers! The bodies aren't very exciting, but I guess that chassis would make a good home for the Tamiya Grand Cherokee that I have stashed away. Only R/C I have ever owned was a "department store" Porsche GT1, that I bought at a yard sale. It steered terribly... all it was cabable of was a hard left, or hard right. Is that what to expect on a truck like this?
  14. I'm never going to save my cash at this rate! There is several on the list that are "must haves", I'm really looking forward to the Meyer's Manx!
  15. WoW! That's just too kool! That's going to be a fine addition to those other great kustoms you make!
  16. One part UGLY... One part REAL. I say it be REAL ugly!
  17. No politics or religion.. shouldn't need a vote IMHO, as that is common sense. As for any other topics, based on what I have seen so far, the solution is simple... No one is forcing anyone to open any threads here. In other words, you can "vote" every time you check the board. And I like this board just the way it is... with maybe the exception of scanning about 24 forums to see everything. But I can live with that.
  18. I like this! It is different! And different is good!
  19. I threw out the Frog Tape. Never needed to tape a frog
  20. Um, we here (at least speaking for myself) like to go by actual name. That is why it is an actual rule of this board. It eases communication. I’m sure your truck models are fine. A few things to keep in mind here, this board is a large community, a community of people who are busy, and do not always have time to praise each build. It’s not going to happen. Another issue with this place, is there is (IIRC) 24 forums here. That means there are 24 areas all competing for the viewers limited time. Not all of us have time to check out all 24 sections. The further down the page one has to go, the less likely most will travel, with the possible exception of the most dedicated viewers. Perhaps if “Trucks†forum was moved up higher?
  21. Congrats to Gregg on TEN YEARS! I'm looking forward to the next ten!I' proud to say I own all ten years worth!
  22. As model builders, we are often asked to "give back to the hobby" (either literally, or implied) Perhaps someone with the right resourses could ask Carol & Don, (amongst others) if they could volunteer to do some photography and web uploading for them? Another angle on this idea would be when we attend a show where the vendors are set up, take some pics! I know some of us have done this already. I have taken photos of Modelhaus' tire selection, but the photos look bad. Fortunately, someone else had good quality pics (the item #'s should be visible) When I get my computer back, I can post the pics if anyone is interested. Of course, this thread is about resin bodies and whole kits. As Bob has stated, these resin casters are just too small time to devote any time & energy to this. I say we modelers can fill the gap here. The problem here (isn't there always?) is finding a way to make these photos available to everyone when they need them.
  23. Aw man, close call! It could be a model... ...but it's REAL! Look at the hardware detail under the running board!
  24. With all the work you are putting in repairing the flaws, will you have someone cast it? What a rare animal a Checker would be! That says "Pro Street" to me!
