  1. How about that?! One sneeze, and you could lose the entire collection!
  2. I plan to soon start only my second chop top in 18 years, I hope it goes better than the scale one-foot thick roof my first chop had! The boys are having a model kit get-together Saturday, and I was thinking of trying something there I have been thinking about. Someone (maybe here?) suggested using three Dremel cut-off wheels sandwiched together, and ‘zip’ the roof off Revell’s new 5-window deuce. Will this work? And more importantly, how do I get all six pillars to line up?
  3. Jeff! That's awesome! You do have a way with 'Stangs! So... no trademark opening doors? You going to Classic Plastic's show?
  4. Isn't it just like a bunch of bureaucratic 'business suits' to go to all that trouble to film a clip so... royally irrelevant? What's the point? If you discount every 1959 Chevy you have ever seen in 1:1 that was at, or going to or coming from a car show, I have seen maybe... NONE! Yeah, maybe in SoCal there may be some, but still not enough to verify the film! Yeesh! Politicians & bureaucrats! Use one to start a compost pile!
  5. I think it matters squat what I want… all that matters is what will sell. As others have stated, I think a late- 50’s to mid 60’s Ford Pickup would be possibly the best. A special nod goes to the unibody. I think the truck has the style and character that it takes to catch the eye of the buying public. The second tip of the hat would go to the Series One Bronco. Just be sure to throw something extra in the box that is really unique… I’m not even sure what. Maybe a snowplow, maybe a trailer, maybe something else. The Bronco would be a slightly bigger risk, however. I still think the Ford mentioned above is the safest bet. Whatever they choose, I want to be among the first to thank the model manufacturers in advance!
  6. Awesome builds, Cranky! They're waiting for a field of tall grass to grow around them!
  7. Not any more! That's why Nissan made the Cube!
  8. Drago- No guarantee, but here is a link to my Fotki album for all things Ford GT & GT40 related. Happy hunting! http://public.fotki.com/JCole/11_fomoco/11..._gt_gt40__gt90/
  9. Nice to have more resin stuff available! I have a few reference photos... here is a link to page 8 of my Mustang album. The II's are from page 8 to page 9. http://public.fotki.com/JCole/11_fomoco/11...g_in/page8.html
  10. Well I know next to squat about late twenties- early thirtees cars, but I would guess it is part of the "Ford" family, so I'm thinking maybe a Mercury, or a Lincoln?
  11. Not only did you do a great job, but you also have something so... unique! A Dodge Diplomat die-cast isn't something that is easy to find. Way cool. Hope you put that on a table at your next contest or show you attend.
  12. You do have a knack for weathering, Cranky! May I suggest some weathering for the grill as well? Maybe the headlite bezels too? It's gonna look like a rolling advertisement for a Tetanus shot!
  13. This just in! Literally... my "dealer" just dropped off a bag with the Rommel's Rod, and the '62 Buick. Wife popped a head gasket... "WHAT?! MORE MODELS?!" I wonder if it was a multiple choice question?
  14. Dang speed bumps! I used to go over speed bumps @ full speed! "No speed bump is going to stop my Jeep!" Then one day while driving my boss's minivan, I forgot to turn off my attitude!! Hit the Mother Of All Speed Bumps. Ooops! Cracked windshield! "Don't know how that happened."
  15. It's hard to tell in that pic, as it is parked under an overpass. The top is close to a Champaign Gold, with some light tan mixed in. I need to find some better pics. Here is a pic of the Ford Crown Vic using Testors enamels, British Racing Green, and Champaign Gold. The gold is a bit too intense.
  16. Kato's in trouble! During the filming of the movie based on the old TV show "The Green Hornet", Kato crashed the GH's '66 Imperial... and it wasn't in the script! Before: After: Note the flame visible under the car
  17. Billy- You may want to reconsider your plan. Raw plastic without pigment over it looks like plastic! Even with just clear paint. Also, the plastic is not 100% opaque, it does have some translucence. I always paint the inside of any car model body I build flat black. I feel it gives the model a more "finished" look. I guarantee the exterior will look dark where the inside has parts attached, or paint. Avoid problems now, add paint. Furthermore, what type of clear paint are you using? Remember, most white paints do not need a clear coat. If you spray enamel, you must go with enamel clear, which I can almost guarantee it will eventually turn yellow. Lacquer spray is more forgiving, but NEVER use lacquer over enamel! I do not know if the Porsche Martini teams used vinyl graphics (many did), or painted them on. Vinyl graphis are rarely, if ever clearcoated. In fact, I suspect that clear paint would eventually flake off a vinyl graphic in the 1:1 world. Tamiya makes some awesome white sprays, they flow and cover well.
  18. Steve! I can't wait to see these when they're done! BTW, here in my hometown, the local Chrysler dealership is the state drop-off point for the NH State Police order... funny, as the dealer currently has only five (NEW) Jeeps, a PT Cruiser, a few pickups... and 110 new 2010 Dodge Charger 5.7L Charger Police Package cars! Some already here, some on their way. There seems to be about ten cars on the lot at any given time. All the cars coming in are all black. So unless the state is planning a different color scheme, it looks like us taxpayers are going to shell out for each one to have a complete repaint. You would think on a special fleet purchase, one of the two colors could have been sprayed at the factory. Anyhow, let me offer my Fotki Album "DODGE CHARGER- EMERGENCY VEHICLES" for reference for anyone who may need it... now if I could only have my camera handy when the next load arrives! http://public.fotki.com/JCole/emer-dodge-charger-/ Oh, BTW, what is your most recent estimate for the kits to land in the hobby shops?
  19. I just did a quick Google search on Porsche 964. You can check it out: B)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_964 With all the numeric designations that Porsche (amongst others) used for model ID's, it's enough for another migrane!
  20. I am, and probably always will be stunned by the events of that horrible day. No, I won't ever forget. In the aftermath, I had collected many photos on-line, and saved them to my Fotki. To this day, I cannot look at them. I grieve for those who died. I grieve for those who lost a loved one. I grieve for the wounded. For those who suffer to this day, the widows, the widowers, the EMT/Rescue and law enforcement, and military. May they find some peace in our rememberance.
  21. I used solvaset, works great. Thanks for the compliments.
  22. "So who says the world will end in 2012???" THE BEATLES! Just play their "Abby Road" album backward! No? OK, to find out what REALLY happens in 2012.... ...ask me on New Year's Day, 2013. IF I'm still alive. If not, it didn't go so well. On a related note... what does all this have to do with the price of BS in China???
  23. My first car... 1963 Chevy Nova with the straight six. Dad & I fixed it up, paid a guy $300. to paint it. I found out weeks later that "Nitro-Stan" putty wasn't the same thing as body filler! I remember the cracks from shrinkage of the lacquer putty on top of the fenders. Nice car. The big tires on the back were borrowed from a friend.
  24. BEAUTIFUL work! Check out his web site, it appears to be loaded with gems like this!
  25. Hmmm... no update from Bill in over 3 months. I hope this one hasn't found it's way to 'model cars- the dead zone' It's too cool to give up on! Meantime if ya need reference pics, I have some. Go to: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/cars--british/jaguar-/ Jump to page 4 for some XJ TWR pics. Hope this helps.
