Not sure if I would switch from my airbrush to rattle cans. I've sprayed craft paints & Testors through my Paasche H and I've used Rust-Oleum and Tamiya rattle cans. I use the Rust-Oleum 2X gray primer pretty much all the time as it seems to lay down smoother that any other I've used. I've used the Tamiya TS rattle cans (lacquer) and really like the way the paint goes down. I don't mind the cleanup to much.
Ok fellows need a little help. I'm looking on the tree at the parts for the wheels and I see this square piece that I can't identify. Doesn't seem to have a number or no mention of it in the instructions.
I just did the spoon test Snake spoke of. I don't know what clear your planning on using but I used Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss Enamel and Acrylic Lacquer. I polished each spoon with Novus 2 before spraying the clear. This was after one coat. I applied two coats (heavy) and the results were still the same. It gave it a somewhat of a dull finish. Hope this helps.
Thanks fellows. Back on track of painting coilovers, if I would have black wash them, would lacquer thinner on a Q-tip have taken the paint off the springs after the paint had dried or do you need to get after it pretty quick?
Nice job. Years ago my father in-law owned and operated and automotive shop called Arrow Engine Service. He specialized in Volkswagen and would have loved this.
