This was a difficult kit to build. Parts fit was lousy and several parts were warped. The build was mostly straight from the box, but this was one of my first attempts at using external stowage parts and detail accessories. I scratch built the simple ammo box holder on the glacis plate, and to mount the rucksack on the turret I drilled a mounting hole in the turret and fabricated a mounting peg out of plastic rod, which was glued to the inside of the rucksack. I cut off the original antennas, drilled out the mounting points, and made new antennas out of thin wire. I lost one of the stowage hooks on the turret and made a replacement part from scrap photo-etch sprue. I drilled out the front machine gun barrel with a pin. Decals are a combination of water-slide and dry transfers. Paint is Tamiya lacquer, but with no flat coat applied.

Thank you! -
I had this Tamiya kit for over 35 years before finally finishing it. After getting a good start on it, back in the box it went for several decades before completion. For the body, I used the only paint I had on hand – Testors red spray enamel. Most of the decals were unusable, but I salvaged a few. I cut the side windows out and fabricated a new rear window from clear sheet plastic. I brush coated it with Future floor polish.

Ordering from Hobbylinc.com

I've been to the Hobby Depot a few times, but we're on the other side of the valley, so it's really too far to go (especially when the AC in your vehicle is out). And if Matt (Bell Rd Hobby Bench manager) has any kids, I've made my fair contribution to their college fund as well! Appreciate the club suggestion - not sure that's for me, but I might give it a try sometime. Thanks!. -
T34 85 tank

Nice job! Speaking of the T-34, you might want to give the films "Cross of Iron" (a Peckinpah film) and "White Tiger" (Russian film) a try sometime, if you haven't already. Here's a link to the "White Tiger" version with English subtitles, which I recommend over dubbed versions. This is a beautifully photographed film - -

Absolutely gorgeous stuff! I especially like the Jag, but all 3 are top-notch craftsmanship! (And 2 rooms? Your wife must be a saint.) -

Just want to thank everyone for the input! (And yes, it was the GA-based firm I was initially inquiring about!) Also thanks for the new resource, as I hadn't heard of scalehobbyist before! -

Andy's is just down the street from me (retail store AND new warehouse). I'm sure that by now I've made a fairly substantial contribution to his kid's college fund. But his first love is armor - he's kind of light on cars. -
Great job! Looks terrific!

I have this same kit purchased back in the 70s, and at that time it was kitted under the Revell name. Mine was going to be blown up by firecrackers in a Super-8 movie, but that didn't happen. I now use it to test weathering techniques on as well as paints, etc. Yours is a nice, clean build and I like the color!

As anyone had experience (good or bad) ordering from Hobbylinc.com? I've come across a few comments from people who had long wait times for items that were supposed to be in stock. Thanks.
