  1. Hi Francis. I am responding to this thread just to push this back up to the top the list. This project deserves to be at the forefront of this forum for a while. (You already know what I think of this work of art)
  2. Hi Ian, Well done!!! You have definitely captured the essence of the real car in all its glory. Replicas done correctly as this one is requires tremendous attention to detail. One of the best replicas I have ever seen.
  3. Hey Carl. I really appreciate the feed back. Glad you like it.
  4. Thanks for your comment. I posted this hoping to help others like myself that have had difficulty getting foil to look clean, crisp and straight.
  5. I had difficulty in the past getting clean straight edges when I tried to foil. This way, I got the trim straight before painting. When I removed the first pieces of foil, I tracked along the ridge created by the edges of the foil with my #11 exacto knife so the paint wouldn't peal when I removed the foil. This process left a slight straight "ditch" to drag my knife through when I was trimming the second, final piece of foil. In addition, the detail of the model's trim piece is protected from having any paint laying on it which could hide some of the detail of the trim.
  6. I am doing a box stock 50 oldsmobile to practice paint and foiling before I ruin my more serious build. I foiled the entire car with Power Plus foil used for furnace duct tape. Then I painted and polished the body, removed the foil and now I am re applying the foil. The white parts of the body are where the foil was and the fender/door trim is the first Power Plus foil I reapplied
  7. Hi Francis. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! I hope to see it in person some day. I think the whole is even greater then the sum of all the parts. Everything fits. So impressive.
  8. Nice work on the interior. Door panels and seats in particular look awesome. The dash isn't too bad either. Your attention to detail will really pay off in the end.
  9. Hi Francis. 4 years in the making. Wow. Keep in mind that this is literally hundreds of precisely built models of various components all rolled together into one so don't beat yourself up for taking a while to build 1 model. This is so much more than just 1 model.
  10. HI Francis. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  11. I like the style side, a "Buick Cameo". Your choice of a top looks good.
  12. You cant miss a detail if you want a 1/8 model to look right. Yours looks perfect in all aspects. Well done.
  13. Hi Gregg. Nice work so far! Wheels are awesome, I like the radiator and heater core upgrades as well as the drive train upgrade. The way you hang the exhaust is very clever. The Yenko big block is one of my favorite engines. It is very nicely detailed and seems to be in scale. I really like the way you are taking the time to correct the out of scale issues this kit seems to have. I am glad you decided to share this build with us. I will keep watching.
  14. Hi Anton. Thank you so much for looking and commenting. I tried to capture the essence of each feature of the 1:1 truck in this build. I am happy to hear that you feel like I have done that to the engine.
  15. HI Tim. Thanks for checking in. Final assembly is always a bit nerve racking for me. Things are falling together OK.
  16. Hi Francis. Thanks for the compliment. I like to do something a little unique on my projects. In this case the functioning hood was that thing.
  17. Hi Greg. Thanks for your feed back . The bed was my favorite part of this project. Thanks for looking!
  18. Hi Francis. The grille and headlights are perfect. I agree with every one else about this thread. It has been truly amazing and I will miss the updates. But I am also happy for you that it is coming together perfectly. Let us all know where you will be showing this project. I for one will try to go see it. Thanks again for following along on my thread. It has meant a lot to me that you have shown so much interest in my project. Anxious to see your next project (next fall I assume).
  19. Installed the hood. The hinges I designed actually work. (I showed them in detail way early in this thread) I just need to pull some of the model apart, clean up a few items, add bumpers and a better grill and I think it will be done.
  20. Hey Francis. thanks for checking in. I just got the hood installed and my hinges actually work! I am posting a few pics of the hood "in action". (2 things worried me on this build. Would the aluminum trim around all the windows look ok after paint and polish, and would the hood hinges actually work. I am satisfied with both items.)
  21. A/C and heater lines installed. Exhaust and master cylinder installed. Exhaust is polished solder wire.
  22. Hi Tim. Thanks for looking. See you in Salt Lake!
  23. Hi Tim. Thank you for the kind words. Several threads (yours included) that I see in this forum have inspired me to pick up the glue and sand paper again. I have a current thread in the "WIP pickups and SUV's" section titled "DeFoosing the FD100". I would be honored if you took a look and let me know what you think. Ron B.
  24. that bumper looks very realistic. Nicely done.
  25. I agree with your comment about panel lines. Less is better and more realistic in 1/25 scale. BTW once again you took a very basic model and turned it into something any one would be proud to call their own.
