  1. Hey! I had a Rupp when I was growing up. My Dad got it for free when somebody in my cousins' neighborhood made the rear shocks fall all apart, My dad threw it in the back of the truck and after a little wrenching and some light welding I had a brand new (slightly used) yellow and black Rupp. I'm pretty sure mine had a Tecumseh engine. I wanna say it was a 5 horse. It was a big deal because the old minibike I had only had a 1 0r 2 hp engine. It was kind of a transition from a minibike, to a motorcycle. I had the laced up spoke wheels. Got a pic of my old minibike on my phone. I'll have to post it. Never did take any pics of that Rupp.
  2. I think that's what I was using. Mine came out a little more reddish than I was hoping. I already ordered the Tamiya cans. I'm sure I'll use them on something. I paint everything some kind of orange. ?
  3. Ray has a deal with this eBay seller to knock the shipping cost down a bit if you are in the states. Hurry, looks like he only has one set left. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175393960434?hash=item28d64b71f2:g:6zUAAOSwMc9jBnUM
  4. Thanks Dave. The engine enamel I used on the Boondocker Blazer looks a little too red. seems like it could be a little lighter. I always have good results with the Tamiya lacquer.
  5. Which Tamiya lacquer rattle can is the closest match to Hugger orange (Carousel red)?
  6. Here's what it should look like. Maybe I should start over.
  7. There is also another one on eBay now that's up to $100 with 7 days left and 7 people watching. I'd rather pay the 8 bucks and shipping for the resin hood since that's the only thing I need for this project. MPC 7215 1/25 1972 Pontiac Firebird opened unbuilt plastic kit | eBay
  8. This is just the very beginning stages but you gotta start somewhere. A slight touch with the Dremel and some light sanding with an emery board then a little dab of Tamiya filler Putty and the side scoops are a thing of the past. I'll let that dry overnight. Next I'll have to make a Ram Air Air cleaner. For this I was able to trim the bottom half if the shaker scoop and the top half of an extra Deserter Air cleaner. The rally lls are soaking in Mr. Clean as they way too shiny chrome and need to be painted Argent. Revell did a pretty good job on these also. You just need a little paint detailing work. The Firestone Wide Ovals are really nice. I think I might just keep the front spoiler and the wheel well pices. I know the y were specific to the T/A , but I kinda like the look of those. The same for the engine turned instrument panel applique. I always liked the look of that over the boring, wood grain of the Formula. They give you a nice decal for that.
  9. Huge Lanegan fan. R.I.P. Mark.
  10. Huge Nick Cave fan. Loved when he was on Austin City Limits.
  11. I was thinking that same thing. I don't think I own one of those cone shaped bits for the Dremel. I'm getting one now.
  12. I don't know why but X came to mind. John has about the coolest P-bass I've ever seen That guitar is going in the rock n roll hall of fame someday. I sold one similar to it (a black sunburst) many years ago. Luckily my good friend still has it out in L.A. It's worth crazy money now. Good to see these guys are still at it after all these years. Original lineup too.
  13. It may well be on an album by now. If it isn't, it should be. Maybe we should start a live performance thread.
  14. Just got back from Hobby lobby to take advantage of that 40% off thing. Picked up this '70 Trans Am kit. It's nicer than I expected. Revell even did a nice job on that Formula steering wheel i love so much. I ordered my resin Fomula hood on ebay earlier. Now I'm halfway to building a '70 Formula Firebird. Next, I'll have to eliminate those side scoops. Scratch build a hood tach. It even comes with thos nice pad printed Firestone wide ovals I'm always raving about.
  15. Ordered my Formula Firebird hood today. Now I'm one step closer to building a '70 Formula Firebird. ? SMH Resins 70-73 Firebird Formula 1/25 hood resin | eBay
  16. I don't believe this ever made it onto any album. Paul Weller has been known for over 40 years now for writing some of the greatest lyrics ever. It's easy to overlook just what an amazing guitar player he is. He really uncorks it at about 3:35 in this performance from the 1994 Glastonbury festival.
  17. Paul Weller - Wild Wood. The original Mod Father.
  18. New Rose - Blondie. Damned cover.
  19. Thanks for that link. I just bout one. I think I can make the hood work with a little fancy footwork.
  20. Wow! Sometimes I like to think I'm pretty good at scratch building things until I see something like this and then I realize I'm not even in the same building as somebody like this. The work involved in the doors and wheels alone would have been enough to make me walk away.
  21. Well, I don't have a time machine but click the link and you can see what I'm talking about. MPC 1972 PONTIAC FIREBIRD ANNUAL KIT#1-7215-225 72 1/25 AMT NOS FACTORY SEALED | eBay
  22. Good. My photography skills leave a little to be desired. However, I was kind of expecting them to be reflective like the real (vinyl) decals. I guess they haven't perfected that sort of thing yet.
  23. I wasn't aware that MPC had done a '72 years ago. Have you seen what kind of cabbage these kits are bringing in today? ?
