Revell 1968 Chevelle now in stock and shipping

But are they terrible? I agree, they are rather bland, but I wouldn't consider them terrible by any means. Even the Palmer '68 Mustang convertible above fails to qualify as terrible, IMHO. Most Palmer box art is so bad it's actually appealing in an exaggerated, cartoonish, distorted way.

Using discarded household items in modeling

Yeah, it's not like '77-'78 Trans Ams were popular when they were new, or there were any major motion pictures which heavily featured such a car back in the day, and there definitely weren't millions of young boys who are now adults and want to build a model of the car they lusted after when they were young. They'll keep reissuing them until they hear/see people are not buying them.

I'm a bit surprised Round2 hasn't reissued this kit yet.

The Hobby Shop Only (HSO) series predated the later series kits which to my knowledge didn't have any special name associated with them: HSO '70 Olds 442: Glossy white box reissue from 1999:

QFT. I guess I can't blame JO-HAN/SeVille Enterprises for trying to inject some new life into the only kits they had left to work with. While the former Pro Stock AMX had at least a chance of being semi-believable as a Pro Street car, the '69 SC/Rambler did not, but I'm sure someone, somewhere out thought it was awesome:

The trim is hard to miss, but the primer definitely makes it more visible. FWIW, I don't think Okay Spalding has possession of any of the former JO-HAN kits run by Testors in the '90s. IIRC, it was mentioned somewhere that they were more related to or associated with the items J. Lloyd owned, but that Round2 didn't acquire them when they acquired the Lindberg/Hawk tooling from J. Lloyd. Not sure where the molds for the '71 'cuda, Comet Pro Stock, AMX, and '70 Olds 442 are now, but I would never consider them gone for good.

Revell 1968 Chevelle now in stock and shipping

I think it's locked, anyway. I'm sure someone'll post the contents once the get their hand on a kit. -
Is there any way to tell the two different versions apart looking at the box art pictured above? The rear suspension and rear cab window are both hidden, so Round2 could conceivably use the old box art while including the more recent parts.

At least we know who to direct our complaints to if it doesn't. Thanks for the heads up, Brett.

I never thought the 9.00 -15 Firestone Deluxe Champion slicks on your tub would've been included in the XR-6/'27 Touring double kit, and even less likely they would've been intended for use only on the Touring, but they were. Here's a comparison shot of both AMT (at least I'm pretty sure the narrower slicks, are AMT sourced, too) Firestone Deluxe Champion 7.60 - 15 and 9.00 - 15 pie crust slicks: Just noticed the wheels in the AMT Custom & Competition parts pack...is this where the XR-6 wheels ended up?:

This more recent issue might be easier to find:

Which Ford 427 engine are you asking about? The SOHC Cammer engine had a displacement of 427 c.i., too.

How do you know mold release was used? Michael, ask whoever you purchased the body from what is needed to prep for paint. No two companies are exactly alike, and the caster knows better than anyone what materials and methods were used to create to body you are using.. If you bought it from a re-seller, try to find out who made the body. It's always a good idea to wash every part with a mild soap and water solution, but I would advise against using any string chemicals unless it was specifically recommended by the manufacturer. -
Interesting. This release would be a great candidate for all new 'cartoon' box art. Hopefully these aren't the "Fantastic Flames" decals Round2 is going to release:

Maybe not quite sow's ear level to start with, but the end result is stunning on both counts. Beautiful models.

Any up dates on the Moebius chevy II gasser ?

Yes, these are all 'new', as is not yet mentioned here on the forum as new Round2 releases for 2019. I don't know what's considered an "official announcement", as Round2 doesn't seem to have a consistent source or location at which it shares official news of all future releases, but these are all listed in Stevens International's site (and likely other's), so good enough for me. Was this the only time the AMT '40 Willys pickup was offered as a stand-alone kit?

Dead. No more cars was the gist of what I heard about Pegasus' decision. All those mint AMT Craftsman kits are safe for another few years. -
It is, or at least the AMT 1/16 '55 Chevy Bel Air Convertible and Hardtop kits included the Cragar Super Trick wheels in previous issues. The 1/16 '57 Chevy Bel Air Convertible kit includes the very nice Cragar S/S wheels. I'm guessing the Goodyear Rally GT tires have been permanently retired, and the '55 'vert will include narrow stock tires and the Goodyear GT Radial tires, as included in the recent MPC 1/16 '79 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird kit.
