These are the various issues of the same modern era (read: created from new tooling in the '90s) AMT '57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop, easily discerned from the '60s era AMT '57 Bel Air Hardtop kit by the presence of an open trunk area and separate trunk lid. Note the real car shown on the below box top is a Sedan, but the kit inside is the correct Hardtop: This is the most recent (2017) reissue, molded in red with another identical version molded in white plastic: Street Machine version featuring a 'back-halfed' frame, mini-tubbed floorpan, Corvette wheels and tires, and other non-stock parts:

  6. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Maybe it was in the plans at some point, and maybe it will be again, but considering both 1/25 scale snap and 1/24 scale glue '70 Chevelle SS kits exist in the Revell inventory, I don't see it happening.

  9. I've yet to find any better deep American Racing 200-S wheels like these in 1/25 or 1/24 scale, so that's two usable parts.

After reading the above, I took the plunge and bought the December 1980 issue of Car Exchange to read the full article, and it contains images (not great, but decent) of the 1957 SMP model (essentially unassembled promotional models) boxes, and I can honestly say I've never seen one before this. That's not saying much, but it's really neat to see them, and the SMP logo, which wasn't always nearly identical to the 'amt' logo we all recognize. I'll scan the article and provide a link after it's ready.

  15. On a semi-related note, how similar are the X-frames from both '63 and '66 Rivieras? I have an original AMT '63 with the promo style chassis (bad), and would like to use the modern-era AMT '66 Riviera chassis, suspension, and engine (good) if there aren't any major obstacles to doing just that. *edit* Hmm, the wheelbase grew from 117" to 119" between '63 and '66...not considering that a major obstacle.

I will admit it's a bit difficult to categorize some posts, and I don't read every section, either, but I would suggest you scan the Reviews sections, since it incorporates "News", which can encompass many things. There are some folks here who are very in tune with what's going on behind the scenes and are willing to share what they know when they are able, which benefits us all. That '69 Chevelle topic (or a new one?) or going to have to be addressed fairly soon when the kit debuts.
