Who knows what Atlantis will turn up in the lot they acquired.
-
No, but again, going by Tom West's comments, that only seems to apply to the 15 molds damaged in the derailment. I don't think the third (of three) Drag Racing history article in SAE in which Tom West discussed the 1/16 Aurora Racing Scenes touched upon the fate of those kits, but he did mention the unexciting box art (IIRC something along the lines of "dental products" was mentioned) and poor sales numbers while those kits were current. Was anything mentioned regarding the 1/25 Aurora '34 Ford Coupe in Tom Graham 's Aurora Model Kits?

The Best 1st Generation Ford Thunderbird Kit?
Casey replied to W-409's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
At least AMT got both of those details correct on their 1/16 scale AMT '55 Thunderbird kit: -
This engine is what I would recommend for anyone looking for a '49+ Cadillac V-8. The only potential drawback is the tri-carb intake manifold, but with a separate valley pan and distinct intake runners, the intake manifold can be modified as needed: Plus, the Revell '59 Cadillac Seville kit was reissued in 2017, so it should be easy to find.

Amt '66 Riviera: your input, please
Casey replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Maybe that's due to the 'vertical' orientation of the Buick V-8's valve covers? I have an unassembled version of the Mueller-era AMT '66 Riviera's V-8, and while it's pre-painted, it would be my go-to choice for a Buick V-8 engine. If someone has definitive measurements of a real part(s) (say, valve cover flange width and length, etc.) I can compare them to the scale engine. -
Here's what I would trust as the definitive answer regarding which issues contain the radical custom Styline parts:

Geoff, is there a date on the box? IIRC this was the last time the ex-IMC VW Beetle was reissued.

Hopefully some or most of these made their way to Atlantis' HQ in Deer Park, NY, and licensing can be obtained so that they can be produced again. I'd be happy if only the 1/24 Monogram Land Rover could be produced again, but the non-racing versions of the sports cars would make for good mid-level model building, too.

Reissue the Revell double drag kits!
Casey replied to GaryR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Because reality and economics have be be involved in the conversation at some point. Your best bet is to contact Atlantis and ask if they have these molds. I see no reason Revell U.S.A. would've kept them post-bankruptcy, especially since previous incarnations of Revell had no interest in using them. I really think this is a case where the number of existing original kits, parts packs, and built up models is sufficient to pacify 91.3% of those who pine for these kits. -
MPC Chrysler Hydro-Vee "Charger" Boat Kit and Other Boat Kits
Casey replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looking at the long side of the box in one of Tim's pics of the original issue's box, you can see how the battery was mounted and where. I can't make out the position of the straps, but I would guess they attach to the underside of the floor: Here's another pic of the mini boat found in the Revell "River Rat" kit, too: -
Why not go right to the source first?: https://www.autoworldstore.com/product-p/amt988.htm If it has an opening trunk, it's the modern era tooling version, period. Round2 should be more careful regarding the images they choose for box art when using an image of a real vehicle, as in this particular case, the real vehicle doesn't accurately represent the model's features. However, that can be avoided by looking at other releases of the same kit, such as the below version, which shows a built model: One can also look online at instruction sheets, open versions of the kit on eBay, etc. to find out exactly which parts are or are not included.

Not to open that can of worms again, but if I wanted as original, a reissue wouldn't suffice. Now, the average price of an original will likely decrease due to the availability of a reissue, but I don't think Atlantis is going to be able to use the Monogram, Revell, Aurora, etc. logos, so the new boxes should be branded with Atlantis' logo, which, if true, would kill the authentic look of the box alone. I'm sure some could care less (insert builder vs. collectors debate jab here), but to some the details matter. I hope the announcement of the 1/48 White Mobil tanker trailer isn't a bit of foreshadowing, and the 1/48 ex-Revell '55(?) Ford pickup and Chevy Two-Ton stakebed kits are next.
