The best $50 I have ever spent
Casey replied to 426 pack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm all for youthful exuberance, but this is the type of project where you end up more than the finished product is worth. That's totally fine, as long as that's understood and accepted at the start, and the project can been seen though to completion, years later. Definitely need to get that unibody on a frame rack and check everything before replacing or removing any body panels. Doesn't look horrible, but resting on it's side isn't ideal, and even 1/4" of tweak in one section will lead to future problems of not corrected now. Cale, are you the person with the C-body, too? -
Funny you mention those, as I did purchase multiple copies of most of the above, as well as the '70 Challenger T/A, '70 Superbird, '66 Malibu SS kits, and so on. Scale wasn't nearly as critical to me back then as good fit and finish based on good design and engineering. Monogram kits of the '80s were head and shoulders above AMT and MPC kits back then IMHO, despite the simplifications in some areas. When Monogram's Pro Stock and Funny Car kits debuted in 1984, there was no need to even consider an AMT nor MPC kit. Plus, the new Monogram NASCAR kits, which had the same fit and finish, as well as very nice details, were yet another option for spending money. My biggest problem was a lack of money, not a small difference in scale.

History of MPC's Dodge D/W Series Trucks
Casey replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I wonder if the insert(?) for the '72-'78 style 'birdbath' hood was lost at some point? The 'Ram Tuff' monster truck included a modified Baja hood, but both the stock and custom hoods seem to have been included with all or most of the '72-78 issues. The 'Ram Tuff' kit still includes the pre-'79 style cab, correct? -
They are already quite a few topics in the Reviews section discussing the Revell '30 Model A Coupe, and while the title of this post does relate to that very kit, it seems to me to be more about a "look what I found"/"look what I got" than an actual review/discussion of the kit itself. Not sure if this is the earliest post discussing the 1/25 Revell '30 Model A kits in the Car Reviews section or not: If you want drama and speculation, that exists, too: Nobody is going to be able to answer until the New Revell puts out some type of press release and lets the public know what its plans are, or unless someone with inside info is willing to share it. Now, that won't stop anyone from speculating, but if you are genuinely wanting to know, all you can do is wait.

History of MPC's Dodge D/W Series Trucks
Casey replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Would you want them to do just that if the "Ram Tuff" monster truck was the only version they could reissue? The LRE pickup should be no problem, but the longbed is likely not going to be backdated without major time and effort invested, and frankly, I don't think Round2 should devote either to that particular mold. -

I would say the odds of that happening are very good, especially considering the Li'l Gasser was reissued within the last three years or so by Round2. -

No Lil Mixer nor Vintage Police Car...yet. This was a Model King reissue, but it's coming later this year: -
Anyone have experience with eBay resin sellers?
Casey replied to Jonathan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I would do that and return the resin thing. Nobody should pay good money for what you received. -
Yes, to the '90s era '60 Chevy Pickup, and to the vintage go kart from the early '60s Ford annual pickup kits'. John Grusczela (sp?) mentioned the 'bonus' parts a few years ago in the "What's a Hanger Shot?" Collector Model blog post, and I believe Tim Boyd mentioned the go kart parts being reissued at least once here on the forum. Sounds like they found enough to make it work, or maybe had to do some repair and restoration. Either way, the pickup is an excellent kit in its own regard, and long overdue for reissue.

Anyone have experience with eBay resin sellers?
Casey replied to Jonathan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
It's not great. It looks like the resin wasn't thoroughly mixed, hence the swirly look. That could be a big problem. The rear 1/4 window shape is off, and there should be no raised lip around the opening, either. I would check the top of the roof against reference images, too, as the extended cab roof has a slightly different contour than the standard cab. Those 'slots' in the rear cab wall also allow the builder to slightly spread the lower body sides to all the interior to slip up into the body...you could be in some trouble when it comes time to fit the-- wait, it doesn't include the extended interior? Are the inner wheel wells removed, too, i.e., the engine compartment is totally empty? You can see where the top-of-the-door-to-cab gap is now much shallower due to the sanding to try and make the roof flatter, too. Those door lines should've been re-scribed but weren't. Also odd is there's a bumper molded with the cab, as the grille and front splash pan must be added to the cab before the bumper. -
For those who missed this news, the 1/25 AMT '55 Chevy Bel Air sedan kit is scheduled for reissue later this year: AMT-1119 1/25 1955 Chevy Bel Air Sedan

You should ask the seller for a note indicating the built model came from a former Revell employee-- assuming who I think the seller is related to is, in fact, the person she is related to. Look back at the many review topics and you'll see many other built up test shots molded in this same grey color, so I would feel very confident they are what they are represented to be. Revell has been using grey plastic for test shots for quite a while:

Lindburgh 1/12th fiat
Casey replied to willieman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Post count doesn't equate to knowledge, and most pre-'90s Lindberg kits are pretty much garbage, so it's an accurate statement. Willie, look through the below existing topics discussing this exact kit and read/see for yourself if this kit is what you're looking for:
