  1. It looks like a blend of the late '90s Cavalier coupe and the new Camaro. While you didn't post much info about the car, I think Chevy is pretty satisfied with the name recognition they have in "Impala", and I wonder if they are really considering bringing back the Chevelle name or if this is simply a show car exercise.
  2. Light blue must've been a popular color for Studebaker Champs.
  3. Thank you. It's always surprising to me how few parts comprise a kit like this. The body shell looks very nice, and I love the big box and artwork.
  4. No, you need the Monza kit for that figure. I agree with Gregg- sounds like a defective body for sure. I'm sure Revell will send a replacement.
  5. Thanks for the pics, Rodney. Can we see the "artwork" at the bottom of the box, please?

    Love it!
  7. They are, and have. Take a look at the shelf stickers and you'll see "Motorsports Assortment $24.99", "Impala Assorment $22.99" and so on. The group some kits (Monogram Classic series) and probably use a common price point for all in that particular series.

  9. Copy and paste the link which starts with "[ I M G ]"
  10. I found these pics of the original issue '36 Ford in Dave Darby's Fotki album while Googling: http://public.fotki.com/DWDarby/model_cars/vintage_model_kits/revell-monogram-193/
  11. I have not, but Michael's is getting ready for a re-set of their models, so maybe it will be one of the "new" kits.
  12. Didn't Revell tool up a new set of tires for the Black Widow reissue?
  13. Try painting the interior tub seat inserts with a brush. You'll have to move semi-quickly, but you can still mask them or use the raised edge as a guide. You'll be able to better control the paint in the corners of the inserts if you free-hand brush them, instead of masking and spraying them.
  14. Is there another AMT kit which shares the chassis and maybe most of the engine parts with the Bugaboo?
  15. Exactly. Maybe the buyer only wants a sealed kit which has never been opened. Maybe the buyer lives in North Pole, Alaska, and there are no shows, swap meets, nor hobby shops remotely close to him/her. Not everyone has the same access to our hobby.
  16. Is any company currently producing photoetched tire tread? Slicks are much easier to make in resin compared to treaded tires since no tread detail is involved, but I'm not sure if anyone or any company has ventured into photoetched automobile tire tread territory yet. It really would open up a lot of possibilites for scale auto tires, but there would need to be a huge variety of tread patterns available to ensure scale fidelity for each make and model of tire.
  17. One advantage to casting tires in white resin and then painting them is it's easy to sand the paint off any raised sidewall lettering, eliminating the need to detail paint the lettering, since the exposed bare resin will be white...provided it's the "right" shade of white for your particular project.
  18. And the answers: #1: Revell (Monogram) pre-painted 1/32 '68 GTO #2: Monogram 1/32 Chevy Van #3: Monogram 1/24 Dodge Daytona Street Machine #4: Revell 1/25 '69 Camaro #5: Revell (Monogram) 1/32 '70 Ford Mach1 Mustang #6: Revell (Monogam) 1/32 '33 Ford Street Rod (formerly known as the ZZ Top Eliminator)
  19. Mark's correct. The orange plastic is from a Hot Rod-series double kit, but it is Revell's (now 21 year old) '69 Camaro chassis.
  20. I have one suggestion-- list the scale for each item (unless everything is 1/25 scale?), as a 1/24 scale Chevy inline six may not work in a 1/25 scale model, and vice versa for a 1/25 scale engine in a 1/24 scale model. BTW, is the "GM Inline Six" based on a kit engine? And how about the Chevy I6 below it? Those belly tanker bodies are awesome!
  21. I've been looking at large, quality images of '86 Cutlasses, Regals, Gran Prixs, and Monte Carlo SSs on the web for the last hour, and it's clear why nobody has attempted this body- just about every exterior panel on the Olds is different from its siblings. Other than the side view mirrors from the 1/24 Monogram Regal GN, I don't see any body parts from the Buick which could be used for a Cutlass conversion. Maybe the greenhouse could be used, but the hood, fenders, bumper covers (though the Olds rub strips look very similar to the Gran Prix's), quarter panels, and trunk lids are all different. I thought the doors could be left as is, but I can't tell for sure if the crease running through the lower 1/3 of the Regal's body is the same as the crease on the Cutlass's body? The Monte SS looks useless as a Cutlass body donor.
  22. Is this the 1988 issue? I mean the shoe with the Velcro strap, not the model. I love the three Monogram 1/12 scale kits, and especially the '57 Bel AIr kit. Be sure to take your time with all the chrome trim pieces as some are very fragile, especially the nameplates. Is the interior going to be the same two-tone color scheme as the exterior?
  23. I noticed in Larry Greenberg's Revell AG post in New Kit Reviews, Revell lists a month for each specific new release, while I don't think I've ever seen a specific month mentioned for each kit on their stateside release schedule.
  24. Very true, and you did a great job. This is a great example for builders just getting into the hobby, as it shows how well proportioned Monogram kits were, how nicely they look when build box stock, and how you don't need to add any aftermarket items to have an eye-catching model. Plus, these kits can be found for $10 all day long.
