  1. I guess your source wasn't too far off since Revell announced a '57 Ford Custom for 2012.
  2. I agree, and as you mentioned earlier, other modern cars such as Dodge's Challenger as designed to use 20" wheels, so it's all about using wheels which are proportionate to the vehicle.
  3. No specific date has been given beyond "first half of 2012", so stay tuned...I am betting it will be a June release due to the addition of the snowplow parts.
  4. Yes, you are showing your age. The 14" and 15" 5-slot wheels and Goodyear Rally GT tires in the Monogram '36 Ford, '55 Chevy Street Machine, '29 Ford roadster pickup, etc. kits were boss in 1973, but they are dated now. Very dated...and I like them, too. Wheel and tire diameters have been increasing since the '60s, so this trend is nothing new, and the kit companies are always looking to provide added value to kits, so tooling up some new, larger diameter wheels and tires is one way they can do that. The recent Revell snap-tite '57 Chevy, '77 Monte Carlo, and '63 Vette 'very kits have some of the nicest wheels ever given to us in kit form, so I am very thankful to have them. The California Wheels series from Revell also provides more modern 19-20" wheels and tires, which I think look pretty good on most '60s and '70s vehicles. They're not all home runs, but at least Revell is giving us lots of options. The optional wheels and tires in Monogram's 1/24 scale musclecar kits were nice in the '80s when a set of 14" American Torq Thrust wheels on Goodyear GT Radials (new for '79 IIRC) were the hot ticket, but the times they are a changin'. The good news is Revell has left some of those wheels and tires in some of it's (well, Monogram's really) kits like the '69 GTO Judge kit, and they did tool up some Centerline style wheels in the mid-'80s and included them in the '70 Challenger T/A kit and others, so they are not hard to find. Plus, there are always people casting some of these wheels in resin, for those who don't wish to buy and entire kit just for the wheels.
  5. Stick around a while and you'll see why. I think AMW = America'a Most Wanted
  6. Hours of entertainment, laughs, and learning await you at www.urbandictionary.com It really is a great place to spend a few hours.
  7. It's very simple- follow the rules or you don't get to be a member here. There should be no need for warnings, but some people get off on not following the rules and/or testing the limits of the rules. If you think you're special and don't need to follow the forum rules, fine. Find another forum. Gregg has been way too nice IMHO in handing out warnings and tolerating the button pushing of some members. The forum will go on and be better off without them.
  8. What's your definition of "original AMT"? The last aluminum model toy AMT produced?
  9. Yes, you can see the engine plate at the bottom of pic #1, and the lopped off front fender wells to match on the body. Does anyone know if this Cutlass was based on a die cast? It appears to be based on neither Monogram's 1/24 '86 Buick GN/GNX or the Monte Carlo SS.
  10. Close enough- it's the 1/32 scale Monogram custom Chevy van designed by Tom Daniel, and released as the "Streeto Vanditio" in its original issue.
  11. Nope. The color is actually orange, though it sort of appears to be red in the image.
  12. Cool. I don't think I've seen anyone use the Escalade nose on a dually before, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
  13. It's pretty much the Duke's '69 Charger, with the Charger 500 specific parts added- flush rear window on the body shell, flush grille, etc. So basically, not a great kit.
  14. I have 'boards from both the Monogram '57 Nomad and AMT '41 Ford Woody, and the '41 Woody board appears to be a longboard and the nicer of the two IMHO, but I'm no 'board expert.
  15. They are NOT in the '69 Daytona kit, even though the green box art car is wearing them...DAMHIFO!
  16. The Kelsey-Hayes "recall" wheels were available in the AMT '69 Barracuda kit, but I've seen someone casting them in resin.
  17. ^^^ The perfect model. Easily my favortire model I have ever seen. LOVE IT!
  18. Wow is all I can say. That's a fantastic build, David. I love the clear glass fuel filter and the weld detail on each header pipe. I would love to see many more pictures of it if you're willing to post them.
  19. I don't have any small window 5-slot type wheels in 15", sorry. Can you post a picture of the wheels you're looking for?
  20. For those looking for a copy of this book, Amazon lists a few for around $40: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0890243409/ref=tmm_pap_used_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&qid=1325223022&sr=1-1&condition=used
  21. The '33 Ford was the "Fire Roadstered": The Lexus powered car is the "Sportstar", owned by Buz di Vosta, according to some Googling. Some info here: http://persiches.com/xb.htm

  23. This car is visually very busy, so the simpler 5-spoke wheels definitely help, and the larger diameter matches the massiveness of the body.
  24. No, they are not the same. '70-1/2, one-piece rear spoiler: '69 rear spoiler:
