  1. I think you may be thinking of the "Medicine Man" kit from Revell? I think that was part of the kooky C-cab hot rod series of kits, which all included Corviar flat-six powerplants- Moon Mixer, T-Bone Steak, etc.
  2. The hopped up Flathead in the '31 pickup kits is the best part, but as Chuck mentioned, the rear pie crust slicks are a huge let down, and the Halibrand style wheels aren't all that great either. The front tires look undersized to me, too. The sidewalls are so short they look like a 1/20 scale tire on any other 1/16 scale vehicle. The body in the version I had (molded in yellow) was nicely done with no flash or warpage at all.
  3. Brilliant. Just goes to show that sometimes the most important modeling skills and tools are those which can't be bought.

  5. The Odyssey and a dune buggy are cast in resin and sold by Scale Equipment Ltd. Someone also cast the soap box derby car (w/streamliner body) from the AMT '61(?) Ford pickup kit, IIRC.
  6. It looks like the grille-to-fenders fit issue is a difference in curvature, as the grille appears narrower than the fenders at the top, yet wider at the bottom. I think Dave's solution is the best way to go, unless you want to completely re-do the grille. Dave, are you planning to add some type of rear wheelhouse? That's the other major missing detail on this kit to my eyes.
  7. It isn't based on a Vauxhall Victor Estate wagon is it? I saw a 1/16 Frog kit of that model on eBay a decade ago, and haven't seen one since.
  8. Nice attitude. No, it's not rare, and IMHO, there's more value in having and building it than to trying to sell it.
  9. As someone mentioned elsewhere, take a look at Tower Hobbies' website, as they are owned by Hobbico, the parent company of Revell. There are also a few major distributors/vendors for Revell and Round2 product on eBay, so when they list a "pre-sale" and a release date, it's likely because they have gotten advanced notice of a forthcoimg release.
  10. A few specific months are listed here for various 2012 releases, but this is all I've seen: http://www.cybermode...auto_subj.shtml The 1/24 ex-Monogram Chevy Van is not listed, but is due in February.
  11. Is this only available as a longbed? It looks like the bed and cab are molded as one piece?
  12. Michael, Are you wanting to use the Revell chassis (and specifically the rear body mount points/pivots) are they come in the kit, or do you want to start modifying the chassis? As it comes in the box, the two rear chassis pivot points are not totally accurate, but they're not horrible and can be left as is if you don't want to get further into modifications. Can you post a pic or two of what the underside of the Mustang body looks like (especially in the rear pivot area) and what the interior tinwork pieces look like? For the windshield, start with some heavy paper or card stock and a pencil. You may be able to hold the card stock in place on the outside of the body while tracing a rough window opening shape on the bottom side of the card stock from inside the body shell. You can slowly trim it with a scissor, test-fitting it often in the windshield opening, until you re happy with the shape...or need to start with a new piece of card stock. You rarely get it perfect on the first try, so don't give up if it takes a few attempts to get a windshield shape you are happy with. Once you have the shape, you can trace around it on the piece of clear plastic you want to use for the windshield. Then there's installing the windshield into the body...not easy, either, but we'll help you once you get to that point.

  14. My favorite bodywork tools are the nail files from the beauty department at Walgreens, Target, etc. They're about $1.59 each, have a semi-firm foam center, and have 220/320 grits on either side.
  15. Not sure if you can make out the raised roof ribs on this GMC or not: ...and here's a semi-decent shot of the passenger side of the same GMC shorty:
  16. They're still shown as available on Motor City Resin Caster's website: http://www.motorcityresincasters.com/mailjeep.htm
  17. '59, but the bodystyles aren't really that close to be honest.
  18. I don't think it has anything to do with luck if it's happpened more than once. Change what you're doing instead of complaining about it and you'll have better results.
  19. No kit available. I'm not even sure if anyone casts that body in resin, either.
  20. Well, the van is going to be on store shelves in less than a month at least. Are there any interior panels or pieces included for the cargo area?
  21. No. This particular vinyl top treatment was part of the Volare' Premiere option package (ditto for the Aspen SE). This looks to be the same (or close to the same) color you're using, Chris?:
  22. Also consider saving up $100 or so and buying an Iwata Eclipse airbrush from Hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon, instead of the cheaper neo model.
  23. When the going gets tough, the not-so-tough go Semi-Pro http://www.ebay.com/...9#ht_500wt_1286
