  1. I'm not so sure it will be the same as with the music recording industry. Many things I can see being similar, but unless older kits are somehow scanned and the data sold, the only thing available as a printable file will be new kits. I'm not sure how it works with digital recordings, but how would Revell control how many kits one produces from each download? Say you buy the Revelll 1/8 scale '70 Plymouth Superbird kit (NOW I have Harry's attention! ) in 2021 for $150.00 and wish to print out three complete kits? Must you purchase three kits, or can you print unlimited copies from the single file you purchased? While it would be great to instantly print a 3D model kit at your desk, I suspect the great things of the future will take longer to arrive and be not quite as perfect as people hope and anticipate they will be. We are still waiting on those flying cars from the '50s.
  2. I don't think it will be that easy, and I don't think injection molded kits are going away, even after 3D printing becomes more affordable. Kits still need to be sanded, assembled, and painted, so that's not going to change with 3D printing. The skills of the end user will determine how well the model turns out, not how the model is delivered or made.
  3. You can also scrounge around for a plastic bottle or container which is the same or close to the shape/diameter of the semi-circular shape you need. I have an empty Up & Up (Target brand) vitamin bottle which is going to be used for 1/16 scale wheel tubs eventually, but you are limited to whatever curvature the bottle already has.
  4. Does the actual car use a half and half type body? I don't think I've seen that since the "Half Breed" F/C in the late '60s.
  5. Yes, I thought it was easy to understand. I'd suggest the "oops, wrong file name" part of the video be edited out to make the How To a bit more concise, and maybe show how to cut and paste/copy a link from a photohosting site album, such as Fotki or Photobucket. I recall it was mentioned in the video, but whoever was doing the video narration typed in the photo link from memory, which is something most people would likely not be able to do.
  6. Sorry, just saw this now. Here is the thread in which I posted two pics: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=49952 Lots of pics of the wheels here, or feel free to PM me, too: http://s916.photobuc...helby%20Wheels/ I vote for the front wheels, too.
  7. I was wondering if they made the box that size for a reason, then I stumbled upon this last night: It would be interesting to have both the new reissue and that Gakken re-packaged box side by side.
  8. A fifteen pound engine block? Some interesting info about the Crosley CoBra engine here: http://dsr.racer.net/engines/crosley.htm
  9. Previous topics and comments about Perry's Resin: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=48869 and here: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=43352
  10. The "formal" roof is what caught my eye when I first saw it, but everything from the greenhouse down is very unexciting, which seems odd for a concept/show car. I don't see much of a market for a small RWD car in GM's stable, though.
  11. As I mentioned in your other topic, the A-series van body I got had crooked door panel gap lines, and they couldn't be fixed be rescribing. I bought it from eBay seller "stiffkitty" and picked it up in person as he is local. I see that seller lists a lot of JF's products, so I don't know if he sells second quality merchandise or if what I got was as good as it gets. I've seen JF's stuff in person many times, and it's a good starting point, but is not up to Modelhaus' "darn near ready to use out of the package" quality IMHO.
  12. You need to have and be logged into your Photobucket account to leave a comment. I just added a few more, Tim, but one tip, especially for the parts still on the sprues- there's usually a part number (xxxx-4035 or similar) somewhere on the sprue, which you can use to Google which kit it's from. The part number callout fonts are different for AMT, MPC, Monogram, etc., so you can use that to help ID them, too.
  13. Now THAT looks realistic in scale. Nice work, Virgil.

  15. Check the comments below the images.
  16. Make sure you get a good body. The one I bought had door gap lines which looked like they were done freehand.
  17. No. The formed headliner w/overhead console was part of the Gran Coupe option package in '70, but no smaller, "formal" rear window was offered on the Plymouth E-body. See here: http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1970/70_Barracuda0023.jpg
  18. Absolutely I would, based on the Revell '69 tooling. Looks good, Joe....now go get back to work on your Mid Dodge.
  19. That is fantastic paint work, John. With all of that body sculpting from the factory, the wild paint looks right at home, and the colors work great together.
  20. Ian, I suggest you bookmark this 'site: http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library.shtml The small rear window was available on the 1970 Challenger SE only.
  21. I'd love to see what you've got if you're willing to post some pics.
  22. I bought these test shot parts as part of two parts lot purchases on eBay two years ago, so I figured I would share some pics for anyone interested. The parts are from the 1/16 Revell '34 Ford Coupe and Phaeton kits. I will let the images do the talking for now. If you have built or had any of these kits on hand, you will probably be able to see what's different about these parts compared to the parts actually included with the kits. The differences are minor and in some cases, only the plastic color differs.
