My 1960 Corvette

Presently building the MPC Flipnose 60 Corvette that I started about 30 years ago. I have about 5 or 6 uncompleted models of 60 Corvettes from MPC and Revell. I really want the old Monogram kit, can't recall if it's a 59 or 60. Little difference between the two other than seats and some other minor interior things. -
Love the early 1950s Chevys almost as much as the Tri-5's. Nice work on your model. Did you have to use primer when you paint with Rustoleum?

I have this car. It is a Lindsay kit. I also have the 1953 Ford convertible from Lindsay. Excellent work.

Gonna look awesome when completed...

Outstanding model. Is this a resin body?

Cool year and model to build, often overlooked by the 1968 and 1969 Charger. What engine does it have?

Outstanding photos. The point of view makes them seem so real life.

Looks darn nice. I was curious about using Krylon paints as during the current economic crisis Testers and Tamiya are hard to get at Michaels in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I am attempting to return to the car modeling hobby. The last car model I built was probably 25 years ago. I am in my late 60s and now retired for 4 years after working for 35 years as a computer programmer and system administrator (Windows server, Novell Netware & Suse Linux) servers. Since a lad my passion has always been cars, especially American muscle cars, traditional hot rods and cars of the 1930s to early 1970s. One Christmas day in the early 1960s I got a Monogram Black Widow model kit and AMT model of the XR6 hot rod which also included a Model T Ford. I would soon have our kitchen tabled littered with car model parts to Mom's chagrin as she tried to chase me away so she could set the supper table. I continued to build model cars into my early 20s as I attended university but lived at home. My second passion has always been hockey, being a fan of the St Louis Blues since 1968. I played hockey through out my youth and into my adulthood. I stopped playing recreational hockey at age 52. in 1983 I purchased a 1960 Corvette that was a used as a drag racer. With the assistance of my Dad, a talented backyard mechanic and my kid brother, who was employed as a mechanic until he retired a couple of years ago restored the Corvette back to some of it's glory. The Corvette is not original. When I purchased it the 283 was gone and replaced with a small journal 327, Muncie M21 4 speed tranny and a 12 bolt GM rearend with 4:11 gears. I replaced the generator with a GM Delco alternator, swapped out the stock intake and Carter AFB carb with Edlebrook carb and intake. Replaced the old Chevy distributor, points and condensor with a MSG HEI electronic distributor. The single line master cylinder was upgraded to a dual master cylinder. Front drum brakes upgraded to disc via ECI conversion kit purchased from the Old Car Centre in Langley, BC. I still own the Corvette and take it out for a summer cruise every weekend depending on weather and domestic commitments as I am now my 91 year old Dad's primary care giver. Love the car. It's a delight to drive around town. But would not take it on a run to Bangor, Maine. Car now runs BFG TAs and American Torque Thrusts. My other hobbies are digital photography (automotive and landscape/scenery). I also do digital illustrations and some 3D modeling / rendering. Look forward to learning from the existing members here. Cheers from Nova Scotia Kenmo
