There was a TV show where two guys would eat the vintage food. Only thing I can recall at the moment is a bag of Fritos from the seventies that they said were awful.

A whole bunch of different decals from various sources. Numbers and contingencies were Powerslides, the Winston stuff was from a couple of Jimmy Spencer sheets and the Rothmans were from Spot Model and Indycal. Part of the fun for me is the planning and collecting.

You have my respect, details like the spare tire sticker and rad hose labeling are top notch.

In the early 70’s, Junior Johnson was approached by RJ Reynolds tobacco, they wanted to sponsor as many as four cars. Somehow they ended up sponsoring the whole series and the Winston Cup was born. If Junior had accepted their offer I would think it would have opened the door for all kinds of tobacco sponsorship entering the sport. I have already posted a couple of 1970 era tobacco themed cars. I thought of honouring NASCAR’s most famous last lap by building these two together. Started with two Buddy Baker Salvinos kits (they were on sale). Lots of different decals were used. I was pulling for Donnie that day.

Real sharp! I really like the detail work on the interior, my old eyes and shaky hands wouldn’t even attempt something like this. Again, awesome work.

First saw one of these in Tombstone Arizona. I couldn’t stop laughing

Real sharp! Love the shade of red.

I have had good luck with the microscale, but there is no way of knowing what would have happened if I didn’t use it. Also had some bad luck. This picture shows what it did to the silver on this decal.

Do you have a “parts box”? Is there a specific style of wheel you are looking for?
-
Excellent work…looks fabulous.

Real nice! Besides the decals, are there any other aftermarket parts on this?

Apparently, NASCAR race cars in the sixties still used key start. I heard Joe Weatherly was quite the prankster and one time he went down pit lane before the start of the race and stole all the keys.

AMT 66 stocker. Always wanted to try one of these kits. I dislike the oversized tires that come with it, used Plastic Performance wheels and tires. The decals were some leftover Smokin Joes. Very simple kit, not many parts but lots of fit issues. I didn’t use the bumper bars that came with the kit, there is no area for the rear to attach to and the front would not line up. I filled in the rear wheel wells with .020 styrene and Tamiya putty. Anyway, I’m happy with the result, I like the black and green together. I resisted the urge to smother it in decals, maybe add some later.

I believe his first movie was Dr. Strangelove. Around 1964. -
Wow, you really nailed that one, looks fabulous.

I was trying black tape on a windshield for a NASCAR build, I thought it looked awful so I took the tape off but it left residue. I’ve tried soap and water and rubbing alcohol but neither worked. Any suggestions?
