Thanks for the explanation! I appreciate it! 😊

Nice build! Looks tough. Never seen the pipe up front before. Was that just for one version of this truck or did this model always have the pipe up there?

1962 Marmon-Herrington HDT

Thanks very much! I appreciate it! I'm still not convinced that a resin printer is better for me! Not that I'm not aware of the advantages, I am, but I also heard about the mess it makes and the smell of the solvents in the resin. At least that's what I've seen on several tutorials. Still I haven't stopped thinking about it! For small parts it's surely the better choice! -

I just finished the design of the Cat 1673. I know, it´s not 100% but since there seem to be so many variations of this engine I chose pictures that seemed to be very close to the one in this truck. Anyway, I did my best and decided that it´s OK! So all engine specialists, don´t be too hard on me! And here´s a view from the rear into the dog house! -
Hello everyone, it´s been quite a while since I posted a new build. A few repairs and restoring projects but nothing really big deal! So I decided to finally begin a new build and again, something not everyday like! I found the pics of this truck in the web and thought that might be a nice build, especially when you consider that it´s supposed to be the last of its kind. At least that´s what they say where I found the pics. Before I actually start building I have a question to the pros here who really know lots about trucks: Can anyone tell me where exactly the tilting of the cab happens? I´m pretty much convinced that it´s between the two grilles but I´m not 100% certain. First I thought that even the bumper might be tilting with the cab but also without certainty. If anyone can give me an answer to that before I start printing that would be really great! Thanks in advance for any well-founded information! For the beginning here´s some pics of my first design attempts: Thanks for looking!

Thanks very much, Ron. I didn't want to change much of the Mack. The small wheels bugged me and since I had to knock it down anyway, I grabbed the opportunity and changed them. Thanks also for your words about the case. I do believe that I have probably introduced each and everyone one the trucks inside.

That is one hot truck, Gary! Just wow! 👍 -
Since I do a lot of 3D printing with filament I can only agree with Ron and Bren. I don't have any experience printing resin but I've worked with ordered ones. Their detail is just great especially when you look at small parts and you don't have any printing lines. Filament is very hard and therefore a pain to sand. Still I enjoy using these parts. You can remake broken parts and design your own. Sorry too Jeff for using your thread but since the item came up I felt obliged to add my thoughts. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Improving kits with printed parts makes modelling interesting and fun. Keep going Pal!

With those parts added your build will be very authentic, Jeff! They look really cool! Hope you can find out exactly where they go.

Hi again! I finally got my show case finished and when I did I began moving some trucks from my workshop shelf into the cabinet! That's when I noticed that the Mack Cruiseliner, which I hadn't touched in ages, was falling apart just like the Alaskan Hauler before. The rear suspension was just like a mock-up, as if there had never been glue! Anyway, to make a long story short, I repaired the suspension, had to print new axles cause the originals had become brittle and I chose to print new wheels (more Mack like) and slipped on Italeri rubber tires! I didn't change the color. Just had to remix that old yellow to paint the axles. Oh yes, I also added a new steerable front axle! This is it before taking it apart: Partially knocked down: New axles (printed), drive shafts and brake chambers (out of the box) and a bit of cosmetics using a Molotow pen: New wheels... ...and the "new" old Mack: Wasn't that much to do. Added a few new decals and that was it. Oh yes, this is the new show case I made: Maybe some of you recognize one or the other model! Thanks for dropping in! 😊

KW W900 Aerodyne
Jürgen M. replied to Jürgen M.'s topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow, thanks everyone! Didn't think the cosmetics changes we're that obvious. When you're doing touch up work you know what you did but don't think others see it right away. Thanks for your nice words and thanks for watching! -
Hi everyone, I first didn't plan on posting this cause there's Not really that much to see but I thought why not! It's a KW Aerodyne Level 3 Revell Kit which I built out of the box first. It looked a bit boring so I did a bit of cosmetics and pimped my reefer a bit to fit it! This is how they looked before: The reefer: The truck: And now after cosmetics: The reefer: The truck: I added steering, some decals and new front rims: I also added the Carrier freezer (self made)!

Looks like a nice kit! I've been thinking about a purchase but to tell the truth, I have no motivation what so ever to build any cars for it! 🙈 Nevertheless, I think you're doing a great job on this and maybe your progress might convince me to build it! ☺️ -
