Now that I have the basics of what needed to be modified for the chassis to fit, I am going to start on your basic, everyday VW bus paint job. The body has to be together for it to work out properly. After prepping the body by, removing flash, smoothing, I primed and then laid down a base of MCW bright gold metal flake and ultra silver blend -

I am going to have all the doors open, and hinge the body. I cut the stock bus floor to fit chassis fairly snugly. I also intend to have as much stock interior as possible to fit the theme. -

The chassis is a very different wheelbase, I dissected the funny car chassis to get proper wheelbase, reinstalling differential below driver to accommodate and raise driver to be able to see out window. -

This build I am starting is part of a Secret Santa build on another site. It is a VW Samba bus that will have a slight alternative to the usual air cooled engine. This will be a very generic, conservative build😁

Great work on that B-1 Francis. By the time you are done, it will look like it was in Wayne county’s shop! Make sure your windows are locked tightly, don’t need anybody smashing that beauty🤣. Seriously though, awesome machine work on those heads. The spark plugs look right at home. Are the headers going to bolt to the heads also? -

Spectacular!!! The intricate machine work in the timing cover area, the brass expansion plugs, mounting bosses, just WOW! I haven’t touched a model in months now, this is certainly stimulating those needs again Francis. -

Wow Francis, that looks so real that I can smell the racing fuel from the Southern US! -
Warps aside, it looks great! Your applications of paint, details far outweigh AMT’s quality control. I would certainly display it! Well done, indeed!

This is one of VCG Resins’ 2024 Sleigher T kits. They made 20 of them, 5 of them with big block Chevy/ 4 speed. I painted the frame in MCW Candy Hunter Green over Ultra Silver base. Santa’s cockpit and engine block are MCW Candy Fire Red over gold metal flake base.

This is unbelievable! Incredible work on all the hinged items. Having them work and keep with all the body lines can be so hard to do ! Paint is spectacular. I love the interior and especially the swivel seats!
