If your careful you should be able to sand out the clear coat and make it smooth.

The current image of your real car is the same paint saved? Amazing job!

I couldn’t stand the stance still so I removed the front wheels and relocated and pinned the spindles shafts higher. I created exhaust trumpets from aluminum tubing. Waiting on a new red led for the left taillight before I can truly finish the build. Then I will give it a final polish, polymer coating and post the finished results in the build thread area. This will be my final WIP post other than posting a link to the final build thread. thanks everyone for you comments. Much appreciated.

Created grill, from parts shown, AMT GT grill shown for comparison. UV resin clear over Fog lights for depth and shine.
-
Created the antenna using a bug pin and capillary tubing. Added photo etch wipers, 3d printed door handles and a scratch built rear view mirror.
-
A lot more final assembly done, much to go. I broke one of the rear LEDs and the Amazon replacement is not as bright so have another one ordered from Evans to replace it. Too OCD to leave it not the same brightness on both sides.
-
Chassis and body finally mated together. Painted photo-etch GT emblems red insets and added clear UV resin to give them the original look as best as possible.
-
Wet sanded and polished. Just a little bit of trash in the clear mainly. Flocking for carpet, inside roof painted, Assembly finally started.
-
chassis detailing basically done and assembled. Next to flock the interior for carpet and continue interior assembly.
-
More parts detailed, used beading wire for the interior chrome trim pieces on the doors and console. Photo-etch door handles and side vents, created pedals. 2K clear on the body. Will wet sand and polish the body in a few days. Next to fuel, brake and parking brake lines on the chassis.

That convertible top looks absolutely amazing!

Detail painting started. Detailed the engine with plug wires, in proper firing order, fuel and vacuum lines. Started working on LEDs for dash. Fiber optic cables added to yet completed rally pac gauges.

One beautiful build! -
Molotow chromed the window frames and parking / backup lights. Added decals. Now I wait at least 72 hours to let the chrome cure a bit before painting the body with 2K clear, then waiting another week to wet sand and polish. Lots of chassis and interior detailing can be done in the meantime.

This set is pad printed tires from Stevens International I purchased on eBay.

I wasn’t planning on making the air cleaner removable, the 67 kit one will look great once detail painted under it with fuel and vacuum lines.
-
Started getting some paint on most of the models major components. The MCW lacquer for the body is a little more bright yellow than the original. I painted the first version with actual 2K automotive paint but it goes on too thick and fills the details too much IMHO, and we can’t get lacquer mixed in California I don’t believe. Next will be the chrome window trim and GT decals before 2K clear.

@Dave Ambrose, my replacement copy of issue 222 showed up in the mail today, thanks.

Worked on a white glue mock up today. The suspension was way out of wack. Sat like a gasser. Front wheels also stuck way out from the body, I think this is an issue with the 67 AMT kit in general. The rear suspension had to be moved back and reworked the suspension. Fixed some issues with the interior fit and several other adjustments. still need to extend the console, the one cut from the 66 AMT tub is way too short. Almost ready for priming and prep for paint.

Just a small amount of work this week. Created the dual exhaust and resonators from aluminum tubing and cut the 67’s transverse muffler in half to create the mufflers. Created the LED wiring harness and set up to turn on the interior lights or the Headlights, taillights and gauge lights. About done with fabrication and modification. I started the final white glue mock up to make sure everything fits as desired before going into priming, filling, sanding and painting.

No kidding. I was tracking a package recently. It kept coming to my local distribution center and instead of to my delivery center off to somewhere far away Then back. Four times before it went out for delivery. USPS has really fallen apart, and I am sure the holidays won’t help.

@Dave Ambrose, I just sent an email including my account id and mailing address. Thank you.

Wow, showed up in the Netherlands faster than Southern California. Just got the mail today, and still not here.

As luck would have it, and being someone who is never satisfied with my work I replaced the wheels and tires with "New and Improved" versions. I think they came out better this time.

Still hasn't arrive in SoCal, Santa Clarita (91350). How and when should I look into requesting a replacement @Dave Ambrose?
