  1. That ‘35 has the perfect stance! With the skirts, looks like something you would see cruisin’ around pre-war SoCal.
  2. THAT is just too sweet! I love the wire loom and the use of brass/copper. Never saw those heads before. Reminds me of a couple of years back (well, more than a couple) when at a swap meet, I stumbled onto a pair of really clean complete Ardun’s for $6,000. Of course, I knew better and just walked away. Today, I could sell those same heads and put my kid through college!
  3. When I told the wife last year that I wanted to get back into this hobby, all I got was a small smile and a nod of her head. I know that she was relieved. Over our 37 year marriage, she saw me throw soooo much money down the rabbit hole with my 1:1 project cars and racing asphalt Modifieds. Heck, how much damage could I do to the family finances with some 1/25 scale “toys”? Proves that everything is relative. My “model” workshop is down in the basement. I’ll come upstairs all excited after some first time modifications, saying something like “Hon.....I just perfectly shortened a chassis”! Always get the same reply.... a bored, half hearted “That’s nice”.
  4. Flathead, Nailhead, or Cadillac in that thing?
  5. Along with your description: 1) 450 hp, 427 ci ONLY 2) 38 made....37 with 4 speed, one with column shift auto as a prototype 3) 12 bolt rear 4) 7 x 14 steel wheels. E70-14 tires with either red or white stripe (not your choice, whatever it came with) 5) Stewart Warner tach column mounted at about the 2 o’clock position 6) power front disk 7) only 4 colors - Fathom Blue, LeMans Blue, Garnet Red, Rally Green
  6. I too would like to get some parts "vacuum-metalized". It appears from this old thread that Mr. Dale Horner is the gentleman to speak with. However, from a 2019 posting, I note that he was 79 years old back then. Is he still in business? I searched the net for Little Motor Car Co and LMFC for contact information without luck. Can any of you fella's help me out here?
  7. I’ve cut thin strips of “cloth” medical tape and wrapped with that. Gives it nice texture. Then, I brush paint the tape with flat white, adding a little bit of tan weathering powder.
  8. QUESTION: when did yellow ACCELL type plug wires become popular?
  9. Gimme your thoughts on this newfangled ELECTRIC Cup Car they’re debuting. Where do you think they want to go with this?
  10. I’m the executor of my Aunt’s estate. Sold the house and been cleaning it out the last month or two. Down to only a couple of remaining items: a 1999 Coupe de Ville with 29,000 miles that’s been sitting in her garage for the last 7 years, and the big cast iron pot belly stove that was in the family farmhouse back in the 1930’s. Saturday, I have the roll back coming to bring the Caddy to my shop here at home. I’ll spend some time detailing it, changing fluids and rubber, etc.... and then off for sale to some lucky member of my classic Caddy club. The stove? I have NO IDEA what to do with it! I feel obligated to keep it due to family history and all, but our house is all mid-century moderne and it would stick out like a sore thumb. Oh, the trials and tribulations of a 21st century man!.........LOLOL!!!!!!!
  11. She grew up and started her career here in New Jersey. Everybody in the state has a “back in the day” story about Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and George Clinton. Never a mention of Melanie. Strange.
  12. Looks very much like my first 1:1, circa 1974. ‘Cept mine had a white roof, the trim holes were welded up, Anson’s in the rear, and fake Centerlines in the front
  13. Rocking Rodney sez “.....many of those cars were death traps”. You couldn’t be more correct using that term when describing ANY Vega panel wagon funny. The square back combined with the long flat roof created a low pressure area above and behind the car. This caused them to actually lift the rear tires off the ground at about half track. The first panel wagon ran in 1972. By mid 1973, everyone had already thrown in the towel. My comments are not directed toward the Gary Gabelich 4 wheel drive Vega panel wagon funny. THAT ONE was a whole ‘nother kettle of fish!

  15. Do one of you guys have an extra MPC Modified frame laying around that you could spare? You know, the frame from the ‘34 Slammer, Rat Trap Vega, or Pinto. I want to try out a few new things and cut one up. Sort of having it give its life up for the “betterment of science”. Thanks in advance!
  16. There’s a new Scatpack Widebody sitting in my garage. I paid MSRP. I have NEVER before paid MSRP for a car! But I would never have another shot at buying a new Hemi. I gotta laugh at myself.......I probably sound like one of those old flathead hotrodders when those newfangled overhead valve engines came out!
  17. We're talking here about safety and the "Nanny-State". To me, cars have also gotten too.......antiseptic. I take my "toys" out for the visceral smells and sounds that I don't get in today's conveyances........exhaust when running too rich, hot gear lube smell, the sound of secondaries opening, a Pete Jackson gear drive whine, solid lifter tap, motor oil burning off a header, a Franklin Quick Change playing it's tune, clutch slip "stink".........
  18. Went to Island one blazing hot day this Summer for their 16 Alcohol Funny Car show. Wore my Berserko Bob T-shirt! Had a ton of people come up to me and say “Hey, remember back in the day when.........”
  19. Just to add on a couple of comments to what everyone has already said: 1) I had a 1:1 1963 Bel Air with a 502. Wanna have some fun? Try putting in a full cage in an X-frame car! 2) Just bought a 2023 Challenger Scatpack Widebody. First car I ever had with a video screen in the dash. Tell ya what......I can’t live without that back-up cam!!! Chalk it up to my arthritic neck or the wide C pillars and high tail, but that thing is key. I wouldn’t give ya a plug nickel for the blind spot avoidance lights, however. 3) First Car I ever had with anti-lock brakes was an 1991 Lincoln Mark. Was driving on the rain slicked PA Turnpike and tapped the brakes. Had no idea what to expect. That pedal started pulsating and shuddering, I pulled over on the shoulder and did a safety walk around! 4) Before I got my C6, I thought that the Heads Up display was the biggest gimmick in the world. Fell in love with it real quick! Wish I could find that option on more cars today. 5) I’m not a “Big Brother” type at all! Matter of fact, folks that know me say I swing Libertarian. Having said that, I wouldn’t complain too loudly if future cars came with an “alcohol level lockout breathalyzer ignition switch”. Let’s just say I’ve seen too much stupidity and carnage. Might also be because I’m in NJ, the most densely populated state with the most crazies on the road.
  20. And this doesn’t even get into the McCulloch, Paxton, etc......superchargers.
  21. I'm an "old man" with Type II diabetes and an Ozempic monkey on my back! The wife doesn't allow bread in the house, hence, no plastic bread clips!!...............LOLOL!!!!!
  22. Tell us about the first time in person you saw a Funny Car make a run. Who was it? Where and when? Most important, what did you FEEL? Gotta apologize for all these "nostalgia" questions, but my wife bought me a big box of Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines from 1967 to 1974 for Christmas. I'm reliving my childhood!
  23. Which kit out there has a really nice Pontiac engine? I need one for a modified stock car I'm thinking about. Ideal would be with injectors and a water pump. Absent that, single 4 barrel might do. Thanks in advance!
  24. Saw them in the Summer of 1975 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. The place holds maybe 3500 people. After that, the “Live” album came out. Pretty much wore out the 8-track player in my ‘55 Chevy with that! Kinda gave up on them after “Beth”.
  25. What tool(s) do you use to spread/shape Bondo, filler, mud, whatever you want to call it? When working on 1:1, I typically do numerous thin coats, sanding between each, instead of a thick coat and trying to sand into shape.
