vw t3 westfalia
Tony T replied to Jared Roach's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Cool build. Syncro was available I believe, so not outside the realm of possibility. Nice build so far. Is that the kit with a blue camper on the box...if so, I have the same kit...I like the idea. -
MPC 1/12 1930 Bentley Racing Car
Tony T replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Another epic build comes to a close! Thanks for allowing us to follow along, John. -
The interior looks good, Nick. The engine, too. While the generator bracket is a bit thick, it is a lot better than it sticking out in mid-air!!

Wow, looks great. Just looks like you didn't go as low on the rocker area on the right side as you did on the left side. I still like it a lot!

Coming along nicely! Let me know if you want to work a trade for the decal sheet if you are interested that is!

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Tony T replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Wow, some cool stuff here! Another source for figures is Ulrich Mini Men...you can build them into any pose, standing or sitting or whatever, then putty the joints. I recently bought some so I could start to staff my garage diorama. Might have to reduce my staffing levels!! -
Sprues, sprues... oh look! MORE SPRUES.

I toss out most...I have kept some sections, mostly longer straight sections, some that could be used as roll bars, etc. -
Last show I attended laid out in the contest rules what constitutes a model that qualifies for the OOB class. Basically, built from the box contents with finishing supplies allowed such as glue, paint and Baremetal foil only. Minor filler use was allowed for basic filling of sinkmarks, etc. The instruction sheet was also to be supplied with the model.

Resurrecting a badge name that the manufacturer owns is economically sound. No name search, etc. Badge recognition is key. I recall the Jeep Wrangler in the US was called the Jeep YJ in Canada, as GM Canada had a "Wrangler" package on their half ton C1500 pick up...other examples exist I'm sure. Some liked names don't translate well in other countries. Nova reportedly means "won't go" in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish, so can't say for certain). Again, there are several examples of this, thus similar car has a different name in another country. Concept and Show cars at SEMA and the large auto shows are mainly about gauging consumer reaction and can be only trial balloons. Sometimes the consumers are enthusiastic about a design, like the Viper, which provides the decision for funds for development to market of a design. I will not be surprised to see a Chevelle or Nova available in the next few years.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Tony T replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
This is going to be fun...I've got some ideas rattling around in my hat rack... -
Neat build. Looks like a lot of work to get the wheel spats out of the way. By the way...Will you be using the decal sheet from the kit? If you're not using the decals, would you be interested in a trade? PM if you are.

The cut convertible body could be made into a Vette El Camino! (convertible of course!) Love your idea of a race care based street convertible!

What my "Baby Girl" got me........
Tony T replied to Badluck 13's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very thoughtful of her, plus using her own money! Good on ya!! Great sh has an interest in building, too! My kids are older (25, 21 & 20), but two of them got together an bought me the Lego VW Camper, the other got me the Hallmark 66 Batmobile...I love that I got toys from my kids!! One of my kids has interest in building...he bought a recent Mustang GT kit, so I've gotta make some room for him in the hobby room. All good! -
Great looking restoration.

Love Ken Block's driving style. That trick on the banking is wicked. He's got a bunch of videos out there. -
Weather is a topic we Canadians never tire of discussing!! We had a windy and cold but sunny day today in Ottawa. Hey, January in Canada. I did put on the long johns and a scarf today for the first time this winter. It is supposed to be milder (-8C/19F) with snow tomorrow...we'll see if the forecast holds up...seems these new weather forecasting computer programs can't get it nearly right enough lately. At 11pm EST it is -21 C with a wind chill of -27C (-6F, WC of -17F). Tomorrow's going to feel like t-shirt weather by comparison to today! Here's our forecast page for Ottawa if you guys in the sun need to chill a bit! (click on the 'C' by the temp to change to 'F')

With this, you can do this!

Nice builds, Ken. Look like they have decent detail to start with for 1/35. -
Just checked his listings...wow. He has an Ice Patrol kit listed...US$114.99!

eModelCars is being redone, patience my friends
Tony T replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just tried all the possible Sell or Selling links and all lead to "Page Not Found". Also, from Member Area, clicking on Selling, or any of the options under Selling all lead to a Page Not Found page with the MCM logo etc. -

Tony T replied to Tye Brown's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Looks downright Cool...But you changed the title from "Rusty Elvis Taurus"...Now my previous post makes no sense!
