  1. Congrats on making it to the final 3. I did vote for you...Good luck. 3rd place won't be too bad...
  2. Jerry - Thanks for bringing this up. I was too young to remember, but do remember reading about Fireball when I was a kid. I'm sure racing today would be very different if some of the true heroes of racing had survived. Earnhardt, Bonnett, Kulwicki, Allison (Davey), Petty (Adam) to name but a few from more recent years. There are probably a dozen more I could name if I thought about it, I'm sure...Jim Clark, Ayerton Senna, Gilles Villeneuve...a few more that come to mind...
  3. Walmart Canada seems to sometimes have different ideas, or suppliers, and don't carry all the same products in Canadian stores as are carried in US stores. I'll have to see if they have it next time I'm there.
  4. The most important thing is that you are on the right side of the turf today!! Thanks again for doing this...It's been my favourite calendar in years! Thanks for the info...and an awesome duo of cars, by the way! I've got plans to do a topless '59 Impala a Fireball car I found a picture of.
  5. Love to see how you polish, Romell! The 1:1 is an awesome project. Any progress is still progress, and if you have to rely on someone else to do bodywork, then he may not be as passionate about getting it done as you are! I've got a '67 Beetle 1:1 in my garage that has been a 10 year project so far. Had a lot of rusty body parts to replace, with a couple more to go. It's take a whole lot longer than I'd want it to, but the balance of available "time" vs "money" has not been in my favour! Here's one of my Beetle...will be nice to have it all the same colour!
  6. No Autozone's in Canada. I'm not sure if Canadian Tire or their Parts Source outlets would have it. Maybe try Zeller's, or NAPA, too.
  7. Check your profile set up to see if you've selected the right box that says you can receive/send PMs...or something to that effect!
  8. To all the Canadians, and honourary Canadians...Have a safe and Happy Canada Day!! The Snowbirds flew over my house in formation around 10 this morning...what a sight, and sound!! (I live south of Ottawa Airport!)
  9. Great looking wagon!
  10. Thanks, Chuck! Thanks, Matthew!
  11. Nice Jerry, nice!! Thanks for remembering, just in the nick of time! I see 'Curtis Turner' on the blue Ford (#26 or 28?), but who drove the HM #12? Doubly topless for July! Love it!! Don't forget the sunscreen!!
  12. A long set-aside project that was started in probably late 1991 or early 1992, based on the kit copyright date of 1991 and the Motor Trend Magazine article from April 1991 I used as reference. Here's the "On the Workbench" thread for this one. More pictures in my photobucket album. Green paint is Tamiya Park Green, with Future on top. April 1991 Motor Trend article.
  13. I got going on a roll at the bench on this one, and neglected to take more in progress pictures, but I did take several of the finished model! Some things I did that I hadn't done before, keeping in mind I started this sometime around 1991 to 1993 - All firsts for a model (some I haven't done again!)- Plug wires and heater hoses, 3 'SS' badges (rear and both sides) were not included on the body of the model, so I foil cast the SS badges (kitchen foil backed with white glue), and valve stems to wheels. The green used was Tamiya Park Green. This is also the longest time between starting a build and finishing a build at somewhere between 18 and 19 years!! I don't honestly remember when I actually started the build, but I am guessing between 1991 and 1992, based on the article I used was in the April 1991 Motor Trends, and the Revell kit was released in 1991, and that I would have started the build then in late 1991 or early 1992. There are a few areas I would probably do differently now, and some areas are not perfect, but it is done! So, that is two old builds finished in June! (The other was my 2011 Trans Am, which was started in early 2008) Anyways, I'll start a thread in 'Under Glass' with more pictures of the (finally) finished model! Here was the April 1991 MT article: The other page of the article:
  14. I mainly build automotive models, but do venture into other areas on occasion, mainly planes or sci-fi.
  15. Fantastic, Rommell...You'll need to get some 1:1 pics up as you get that together, too!!
  16. Thanks for the reinforcement, guys...I really appreciate it! It was a matter of time to get back to this one. It won't take a whole lot to get it finished. I chose the colour based on an article in the April 1991 Motor Trend...same combo as the 1:1 in that article.
  17. Thanks, Jim, The Camaro snap is real good detail-wise for a snap. 4 screws in the chassis (I covered the holes with round sheet styrene plugs), but good detail. Goes together well.
  18. Thanks, Peter...I'm just hoping I can get it finished - I found a few areas on the chassis and interior I would have done differently now...no changing it now, forward ho!! The decals didn't fall apart in water, which sure helped. Hopefully I can keep making positive progress!
  19. Thanks for the comments! Lee-No, I started this I think about 1.5 to 2 years ago...just built what I thought, not based on anything else. I saw a similar one online sometime after I'd decided my direction.
  20. It came along way from this: to this: It was a fun build, and am glad it is finally done!
  21. Well, I've been working on this, and finally got it done tonight. More pictures Under Glass here.
  22. Here's what I thought should have been released by Pontiac for the 2011 model year. The Trans Am! Based on the Concept Camaro snap kit, and the Monogram 70 1/2 Trans Am. Workbench thread is here.
  23. Got some pics of my update on this build...I've been busy, and kept forgetting to bring my camera down to the workshop... Anyways...exhaust is done-solder for the rear half, as there wasn't room for the stock exhaust to go under the rear axle - it's now too low!! I also added a couple of pieces of aluminum tubing for the tailpipes. Engine is in, and the interior is coming along. Paint on the body (Krylon white, and burgundy), and decided on putting the original Impala emblem in the centre of the '69 Camaro grille. Here's the pictures. Enjoy! Exhaust and chassis Engine and interior Body in paint Grille (just 'air-glued' in place) Cheers!
  24. Okay, so I pulled this one out to start going on it as it is nearly done. I started this sometime around 1991/1992, as the kit was out in 1991, and I found reference pictures in the April 1991 Motor Trend magazine! (pre-internet at my house!) The body gave me fits, and thus it ended up back in the box. I messed up the body and bought another kit, sometime around 1993 I think. Anyways, in the past few days I've got the body to where it is now. I'm hoping some wrinky decals will smooth out over night. The kit is the Revell '69 Baldwin-Motion Camaro (red on the box) and was moulded in red plastic. I filed the backside of the grille to open it up. Go slow, and it works great, but you remove a lot of material! Wired the motor, and heater lines. Enjoy! More to come as I try to get this one under glass!
