Can this be cleaned up
rattle can man replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If it was yellowed (yellowed plastic and yellowed paint do look different), combined with the windshield pic, the whole model was clear coated once assembled. Clearcoats tend to yellow, esp. old enamel Testors clears. And the clear would result in the frosted appearance. I have some of the first models I built decades ago and thought you should clear coat every part to protect the finish. I figured out the frosted look on the clear within a day. The yellowing took a year or two. A tip I learned from this site is to back it with some clay when sanding and polishing to prevent cracking and breaking it. -
A certain shipping company. Their website won't let me manage delivery of a package (original issue AMT 57 fairlane kit!). When I called I was told only I can manage delivery, on their website of course. They couldn't understand I've been trying funsuccessfully for 3 three days to change it. Thankfully i have a nice neighbor!

What Did You See In Your Yard Today?
rattle can man replied to Tim W. SoCal's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Another bloom on my lilacs. I've had one a week for the last 4 weeks. It is an heirloom variety that has only ever bloomed in the spring, just like the one I got the start from years ago. And a red-tail hawkflew over at tree-top height -
Small White decals needed
rattle can man replied to dubbld's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
White decal paper and a punch or circle template of appropriate size? just remember "ho scale" slot cars (I beleive they are 1:64) are not the same scale as HO scale trains (1:87) when you calculate the size. I assume you are looking for the roundels behind the numbers on historic race cars. -
MPC 1/16 '63 Corvette Stingray "SuperVette"
rattle can man replied to ImpalaBoy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
As a Ford guy, I would consider buying one if they were re-released. Nostalgia for my younger years before I saw the light! But I wouldn't try brush painting it this time. And I'd consider a heart transplant from anything non-Chevy. -
All 10 jars of salsa and 9 jars of bread-and-butter pickled jalapenos and hot peppers I canned yesterday sealed. On the negative side, I'm feeling the hours of standing today. I could use some of that Ibuprfen, if I were allowed to take it.

You guys following the 31/ATLAS situation?

A warning shot. If we don't do something about all of the violence, the intergalactic federation will take action to prevent the spread of it. I have seen a bunch of the claims of it being an alien craft. -

New Ollie's here still has pretty empty shelves. No kits since opening week. -

1960 Ford P/U alternate grilles
rattle can man replied to 1st 700 Quad's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I would agree that a trans-kit would be great for a 100% accuratebuild, but not necessarily if you just want a custom front end. Or perhaps a truck that was just cobbled together from salvage parts enough to keep it on the road. -
Just to be clear I have not built any of theses as a kit-mingle/ bash yet. I have compared both a 32 Vickie (2 door) and a phaeton (4 door). All of the srpues have identical parts, other than the body, the interior buckets, wheels, and induction (4 bbl, 3 carb, and 6 carb are the variations in my kits) )options for the 427. The bodies and buckets from both kits fit both fender sets. The Switchers kit has different sprues, but the bodies and interiors fit on the fender units ftom the phaeton.

Hose fitting??
rattle can man replied to 1593 Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Buy some hexagon rod. You could cut a slice of the appropriate size, drill a hole with a diameter that matches the OD of your hose material. It could also be used for bolt heads. I believe Plastruct lists it in sizes .020" up to 1/8" -
People who think they will die if they stop talking.Went to the Paxico Blues Fest today. Heard some great bands, but soooo many people were just talking and not listening. But Josh Hoyer and the Soul Colossal were fantastic.
