Nice Packard Dave! That's the color my engine should have been. Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments. I've picked up a few more of these on eBay and hope to get better as I go.

Great story! Ain't Karma a b**ch . Real nice goat, and the others are right about the foil. Just use a NEW knife blade and don't worry about waste. The more you try to scrimp with it the harder it seems to get. -
What a great collection, a little bit of everything! I'll bet it brought back some memories as you unpacked each piece.

Monogram kit, I am really getting into these '30s classics. The kit went together very well, the chrome sprue was not the greatest (and there's a lot of chrome on these things!) but all in all I'm pretty pleased with it. Comments welcome, thanks for looking.
