  1. No harm in that Don. I’ve done it myself several times. If it’s giving you the sh#ts, wrap it in a soft cloth and put it back in the box and revisit it later. I’ve been guilty of pressing on with models that were being a pain to build and making more mistakes and then just binning them in frustration. Your Impala is definitely fixable, but yeah, I’d put it to one side for now. That 49 Mercury is looking nice and I hope to see it posted on the under glass section soon. 😊👍🏻
  2. You can try it but it’s a dark colour and may need a couple of layers to hide the bare primer patch. Do you plan to put clear coat over it?
  3. Certainly a good strategy. My part of Australia gets pretty cold in winter, so if l have some painted car bodies and major sub assemblies, it can see me through. The 442. Olds is a great kit, I’ve built one myself and really enjoyed it.👍🏻
  4. Hmmm. It’s a tough one. You probably don’t want to strip it again, so I’d give the affected area a quick shot of blue to mitigate the lighter primer colour, let it dry then give the whole body a couple of coats. Hopefully, the bare primer area will be unnoticeable after this. What paint are you using Don?
  5. Hi Don. No pictures mate.
  6. That’s a very tidy Firebird! Lots to like about this one. Top stuff. 👍🏻
  7. G’day Alan. Looking forward to seeing your work on the forum. Good to see another Aussie here. Thanks for the kind words regarding my recent HQ build, it went together really nicely and I enjoyed it. Got a few more DDA kits in the stash, so you’ll see a few more of these from me. 👍🏻
  8. Leave it in the iso bath for a couple of days, a toothbrush should deal with the stubborn patches. Should look a bit like my Olds here when done. 👍🏻
  9. Ooh! That is nice. I’d have that as a 1:1!
  10. That is one good lookin’ Charger. 👍🏻
  11. G’day Don, how’d you go with the Impala?
  12. Sweet 32! Love that colour. 👍🏻
  13. Top job on the Firebird T/A. 👍🏻
  14. G’day Michelle. That is a great looking concept of a modern VH Charger. Lots of styling hints to the original incorporated in this one. 👍🏻
  15. Hey Don. I can’t say for certain what caused the spots, but I’d start over, if it’s Tamiya lacquer, submerge the whole body in isopropyl alcohol, it will strip off the paint. I had to do this with one of my previous builds, takes a couple of days, but comes off mostly, the more stubborn parts you can scrub with an old toothbrush.
  16. Well, Luke is the deep black gloss specialist. I do suspect that he has a little experience under his belt. 😁
  17. That is one tough Camaro! Pearl yellow looks sweet. 👍🏻👍🏻
  18. G’day Don, checked out your Mercury, and you do have a nice shine on that black! 👍🏻
  19. Love seeing these old builds from before I joined the forum. That is a beautiful looking Ford, hits the spot. 👍🏻
  20. G’day Don, what’s the latest on the “Orange wonder”?
  21. Long roofs are cool! This Del Rio is proof. 👍🏻
  22. The 68 Dart is my favourite US Mopar. I’m building one at the moment in gold, but mines stock. I love what you’ve done with this one, looks tough as, that rear rubber only just fits inside the stock wheel arch. Top stuff. 👍🏻
  23. I do like a nice Impala, and I like this one. Top stuff. 👍🏻
  24. G’day David, I’ll keep an eye out for it mate, I’m sure it’ll be sweet. 👍🏻
  25. A sort of “what if “ build? Not a bad idea Luke, I reckon I’d even probably have a small block Chev engine in the parts box.
