  1. It's the fact that old cars are nice, wish I had one; here's today's muse...
  2. Also went to Walmart earlier today I got the February issue of both Hemmings Classic Car (pretty sure it's the Feb. issue) and Collectible Automobile, as well as a hotwheels 1966 Riviera because why not. Thought of hittin' up the local junk shop to see what vintage kits are left as we haven't been there since May sometime but they're closed on Sunday. Next weekend.
  3. I did manage to find the photos of the car when it was originally restored in 1987-88. The first photo is what the car looked like when he got it, looks like fall 1987. The next is when body work had been done, late spring 1988. And finally the car as of fall 1988 all complete, with the original colour resprayed instead of the "midnight turquoise" paint from the above photo. You'll also notice the lack of wheel opening trim; he had found some from a '66 many years later and are now present on the car.
  4. Got to take the Arctic Cat out for a little jaunt this afternoon; just around my grandma's as she has open space for that sorta thing. Also, never too old to build a snow man, did the first one of the season today. Once I get a photo I'll add it on here.
  5. Show and Tell could also be Present and Explain
  6. get things shakin’
  7. We were never actually sure what the colour was called; that sounds about right. Originally the car was dark almost navy blue but a fire accident had the car resprayed this colour. Far away it looks fantastic, but up close the age shows in cracks and bubbles and chips.
  8. Back in grade 11 photography class I had to re-create photos in the style of photographer Robert Frank; I had chose photos in which cars were always present as subjects, but since his photo taking happened in the 50s-60s, I wanted period-correct cars to re-create those photos and so I called upon my Great Uncle to supply his '65 T-bird and interestingly enough my grade 11 English teacher's father happened to have an SYC '68 Chevelle (clone?) that I was able to have in the photos, so here are some photos of those cars I took for the assignment and for fun.

  9. 1956 Hudson wasp; always in the ball park
  10. Really Nice '64; love the Cobra motor wow; I have to admit I am quite fond of my Great Uncle's '65; most folks compliment it on the colour.
  11. Just remembered I do in fact have a stop motion Car themed cartoon of sorts from grade 11: (no sound though) This (extended Version).mp4
  12. In hippie class grade 12 we had to make a presentation about the types of things that cause stress, or are a result of it. I got away with Road Rage, as it wasn't originally on the teacher's list of topics.
  13. Here's one we don't see everyday
  14. yeah man that's correct-a-mundo
  15. Yeah those old kits in general are extremely pricey; I managed to score an original 1970 Bonneville kit ($40) and 1966 casting of the 1958 Thunderbird ($50) at our local vintage junk shop; but there's also a '68 JoHan Eldorado kit; $300! Spied a 1961 Tempest kit at the hobby shop downtown Traverse city, $245 or something like that. Definitely unfortunate that the model makers aren't really bringing back old kits, or even that JoHan isn't being resurrected somehow.
