    According to the kit box introduction, model year 1948 represents the last year of the body style that Ford had debuted in 1941. It also marked the end of an era. The protruding fenders would soon give way to a new lower, slab sided look in car design. The kit is Revell-Monogram´s ProModeler series released in 1998. This was one of the highest quality kits I have built. Exterior color is custom made metallic brown over gold base, which results in the slight candy effect. The kit allows to build either stock or street rod versions, I chose to build it stock out of the box.

    Well done! The colour looks like Gravity’s Chevrolet Black Rose which painted my C7. The bright lighting shows the metal flakes nicely.

    The Ferrari 250 GTO is a grand tourer produced by Ferrari from 1962 to 1964. The 250 GTO was designed to compete in Group 3 GT racing, where its rivals would include the Shelby Cobra, Jaguar E-Type and Aston Martin DP214. A total of only 36 was produced and each of them still exists. The GTO is now arguably the most valuable collector car in the world. This Fujimi kit was a pleasure to build. Lots of small parts, but everything fit together well. The hardest part, and also most visible in the finished model, were the headlight bezels. I used Fujimi´s own photo-etch bezels which had to be formed carefully to match the body shape. The car body was painted with Tamiya Pure Red from the can. Chrome trim around windows is BMF. The model was built in 2024. I´d say the best looking Ferrari ever made, perhaps the best looking car?

    Chevrolet Corvette was the first car I decided (in 2020) to build every generation available of. After Revell´s release of the C8 it was finally possible to build all of them. So these models represent practically all main versions of Chevrolet Corvette - from the 1953 C1 to the 2020 C8. As the photos reveal, build quality varies somewhat which is a good enough reason to start over from C1 some day..

    Very good looking chrome. Are you going to seal the chrome before assembly with any clear coat?

    I have occationally used metallic sprays like Tamiya TS-83 as a barrier for automotive paints to prevent the paint melting the plastic. They might help stop the orange bleed through also. You can of course prime the sealer with the ordinary primer.

    Been looking for a 1:24 or 1:25 scale kit of the classic yellow american school bus (like in the picture below). Considering it has become a symbol of American life like Mustangs, Corvettes or Peterbilts, I'm surprised I have found only some diecasts. Interestingly, Zeropaints do have a color called "American school bus yellow" in their catalogue.     That’s interesting. One would think quite the opposite would happen. Any idea what causes loss of gloss with sanded primer?

    I was thinking the same possible explanation. But as for sanding the overspray, wouldn’t that leave scratch marks that clear coat or another colour coat wouldn’t cover?

    This Jo-Han kit was originally released in 1965, the same year The Beatles released the album Help!. My kit was a rebox from the 70´s (according to Scalemates). Johan has also released two other versions of the 1931 Cadillac, Town Brougham and Sport Phaeton, all with V-16 engine. I do have the two in the stash waiting. The model was built out of the box in the summer of 2023. Despite it´s old age the kit was very accurate but did have quite a bit of flash in the sprues. Building the model was quite straightforward although the instructions were a little different from what we are used to today. Biggest problem was deciding on the color, I finally chose this Tamiya Haze Grey (TS-32). In the finished model there is an operating rumble seat, a small locker for a golf bag on the side, opening hood and posable wheels.

    For the gauges I drilled a hole for each gauge, then cut the pictures of the gauges from the kit package cardboard (they were quite the right size), glued them to the back of the dash and covered the holes with gloss lacquer to make the gauges look more realistic. The bezels were made of 0,25 mm metal wire. They are not perfect but good enough for me.

    Thanks. I also had trouble with the exhaust pipes, but after some sanding of the pipes’ top end grooves and using some power they finally settled in to the locator points in the engine. That was actually the only part of the kit that did not fit like a piece of cake. The windshield in my kit was scratched so I had to build it from thin clear plastic. Fortunately the frame was in the kit, couldn’t scratch build that.
