  1. What exactly does anybody need 8 cylinders for. A V6 challenger makes more power than a vintage small block powered challenger and more reliable and more fuel efficient. You are now in the new milenium man. But as for the dart. Ugly but good on gas. I would rather have the turbo regal though.
  2. When I say it dries fast..I mean that a skin should not develope in a sealed bottle in less than a few months. When it is applied however..it still stays tacky for days it seems. I really need to find a decent gloss black enamel in a big can. But I can't tell if something is pure enamel. Some cans say enamel but I have read that they are actually acrylic enamel.
  3. lookin badass !!!
  4. Has anybody had to thin the black alclad primer? This paint seems to dry fast over time. To a point where I cannot airbrush it at 15 psi like it sudgests. I am really not sure what it is. It says it is a lacqour , but it seems to behave more like an enamel. So what would I use lacqour thinner or mineral spirits? Jeff
  5. Pretty awesome. Badass colors .
  6. Making progress soon. Bare metal foil and alclad is next.
  7. Got into a debate the other day. Were talking about first generation camaros z28s, and got into a debate over what engine was available in them. I always believed that the 302 cubic inch V8 was the only engine available. However three people told me that the 302 was standard and that any motor could be ordered. They said chevrolet had to make a certian amount of 302 camaros but most were not 302's. Is this true? I argued that if that was the case, would not a 396 or 427 z28 be more desirable and more likely to be seen at barret jackson and what not, instead of 302 camaros even if the 302 was more rare.
  8. This is gonna be badass. BUT does this mean the olds is completed?
  9. Last time I tried this the original part melted and warped along with the new plastic. That I suppose it the purpose of the putty..to keep it from warping ?
  10. Shame they didnt build as a hardtop. Badass.
  11. Ready for color tommorow.
  12. Has anybody applied dupont clear over testors lacqour? And if so how did it turn out. I test painted a hood panel and decided not to use clear, just wet sand and polish it out and seemed to me to have a bad reaction to the mequires. I dont know how to describe it. Like it slightly softened the paint. Like just touching it after I polished it left fingerprint marks that only more polishing would remove. Never had this problem with clearcoat. Thanks
  13. Whatever you decide to do either the sharpie or string you can overlap it with even more detail. Google search the firewall of the car you are building. Usually theres some large wire harness taped together routed somehow around the firewall. I cut pie pan into thin strips and glues one end to the firewall before I painted it. The harness is strands of stretched sprue that I glued twisted and glued together and brush painted with a few coats of gloss black paint .I bent it to the shape I want and looped it thru those thin pie pan stuff and bent them over the wires. The engine will hide most of that stuff so its very subtle. You can make a smaller one to replicate the thinner wire harness that goes from the fuseblock along the inner fenders and thru the rad support to the headlights. I would not try to worry bout individual wires like a temperature sender wire for instance. you will drive yourself crazy. Look at a real car and single out clusters of wires.
  14. This thing is badass. What did you use for those wires?
  15. You have to remeber the amount of paint that you very putting on is super thin. It will rub off in time if you handle it too much. best not to touch it at all.
  16. this was a stock color combinination? I have time believing that. But I sure do love it.
  17. Badass !!!!
  18. Whoa this thing is gonna be badass
  19. Love that diamond plate with the mopar spear. Very cool
  20. Thanks for the kind words. The striker plate isnt hard to do . I just tool some thin styrene and drill 3 or 4 small holes real close together and used a sharp knife to make the slot. Then I cut a hook shape out of the same styrene, put it thru the slot and put a dab of glue underneath to keep it there. Anybody can do it. As far as the color... I painted the hood already. I wanted to make it butternut yellow but I don't have butternut yellow but I had ford phoenician yellow. Close enough for me.
  21. Dont think this thread is complte wiyhout route 66 . Taken a few winters ago.
