Thank you. I am surprised how well it turned out. I used alunimum foil for that. Three pieces, one for the top and sides are different pieces. The trick it to go slow. I first stick the foil to the top of the seat and slowly wrap it around the top corners with my fingers. But you have to make cuts in the corners on the excess part of the foil where it starts to fold. Then just take a toothpick and rub it into the edges gently and then cut all the excess foil off.

Made some progress. Painted a base coat of plastickote black. I will try the technique of applying clearcoat directly to black primer. Not sure who invented this so I not trying to take credit for it. I bought a can of the dupont stuff Mr. Cranky uses. Always affraid to black colors so I expect some imperfections. Interior will now be krylon ivory. Any ideas for the carpet color. Black is probably what was used but I would like to use a light browny color. Perhaps the tamiya deck tan color that I was going to paint the vinyl interior.

So if a criminal shoots the driver, he dies. And if he ducks the bullet hits the fuel tank and he will still die? Just kidding. Badass idea, cannot wait to see more.

John Tersi. I am very dissapointed in you. Those incorrectly spaced wheel studs will never pass safety inspection. The DMV will laugh at you when you take it there.

I don't know if the grades of sandpaper are different where I live, but if I finish with 600 I will see tiny scratches in the finish paintjob. I usually end with 1000. But perhaps that explains why I have a problem with paint flaking off edges when I am wetsanding. If there is such thing as 800 grit, perhaps that might be the best to use before paint. Also I would like to add that different brands of sandpaper seem to have different grits. I get the 3M brand that I find in the autobody row at the autoparts store. But the big sheet at the carpentery row seem to be a different grit even if the number is the same.

This thing looks unreal. I would like o see you try a model kit that exists.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, Those parts are missing. But if I make anything it wont be anything complex. Don't know what I would use to make those three pronged supports. So it won't look stock. There isnt alot of space there either so it will have to pretty low profile so the hood closes. Just for note, they did not include side mirrors either not even a single drivers side.

Small update. After seeing the work of Randy D and John Tersi, I have lost motivation to even bother. Theyre work is a whole new level. But I know my limitations and I can never achieve what they can but I am still happy with my work I suppose.

No love for Dodge?
sak replied to Larryhagmansliver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No offense to those who like modern day dodge cars and trucks but I would prefer to see kits done of vintage dodges. Not even just dodges actually. I would prefer them concentrate their attention on things that have never been done at all like the hudson that is coming soon. A 64 wildcat would be cool. Something different. Newer style cars just do not inspire me at all. Just my opinion. -

Smallest engine from Ford... ever!

Was not the original corvette a six cylinder car, when a V8 was already being produced by GM? I know corvette is a icon, but perhaps not as much a status symbol in years ahead, I predict. When kids see the rappers drive a maybach or a bently, perhaps thats what they will buy if they make good. -
Velour int ? Simply badass !!! Great job !!

Bout time. Always wondered why they can make 300+ horsepower from a 3 liter v6 but not 150 horsepower out from a 1 liter. Hopefully north americans will realize soon that 200+ horsepower is not nessesarry to propel a car and family to grocery store, soccer practice ect ect. Tremendous news for the auto industry in my opinion but there is another but I will begin a new thread for that. -
Do not think its because its a hacker doesnt think it is worth his/her time to make a virus for macs because there are not as many of them out there. Ratio of Pc to mac is 16 to 1 you say? Even is it was 50 to 1, there would still be tens of millions of macs worldwide. Macs are so much more expensive also, more common omong the upper middle class, so targeting them would be a tremendous opportunity to a hacker.

Is there a way to fix a leaking airbrush
sak replied to sak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was dropped a few times. Thats probaly why. Totally my fault. I think the cost of shipping to and from badger headquarters would be astronomical. Half the price of buying a brand new one. I have a tube of silver stuff meant to fix small holes in exhaust pipes. You guys think thats will hold? The plating along that weld appears to be worn off. Bah I just read on the badger website that the head seal can only be tightened or loosened two or three times before it becomes worn out. It sure would be nice if they mentioned that on the packaging. I remove the head at least three times a month. -
Alclad over plasti-kote
sak replied to trey allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What kind of plastickote did you use ,the super enamel? Or the lacquer ? So far the best thing I have used is the testors gloss black enamel. The alclad primer seemed to me to be too thinned down and was drawing away from edges -
John Teresi, this thing looks top shelf. Please tell me what you are using for that small wires and tie wraps. Jeff
-
The metal wire inside plastic paper clips works good too, easily bendable but holds shape
-
Cant wait !!! This is gonna be badass !!! Leaving it a hardtop? Jeff

Ah ok thats what I needed to know. That settles it then. Thank you
