Cannot wait to see this one complete. Very badass !

Why I gremlin may I ask?
-
Cannot help you with youre question but I would say that if the car looks better lowered, lower it. Acurate or not. In my opinion, all cars look better with a 2 inch drop. But the actual purpose of this posting is to ask you how you made the redlines on the tires.

Good job brah. Wacky battery and engine colors but overall...Badass !!!

What I do is grind the top of those distributors almost flat . Those nipples are tapered and grinding them down gives you a lil more surface area to work with. And the spark plug wire boots slide over those nipples on a real car so you dont want them there. But if you do this you should make some new boots from phone wire. Now what I do is make those little holes just big enough for the wire that I am using for spark plug wire and glue them in the holes. Make the holes deep. I drill the holes until it comes out the bottom. After all 8 holes has wires in them, I cut small pieces of phone wire and slide them down the wires almost to the distributor. Then a small dab of superglue and quickly slide the phone wire the rest of the way to form a boot.

Yeah phone wire is the best for the boots. You will have to enlarge the hole a bit to get the 30 gauge wire thru it. Btw, an easy way to do the sparkplug boots is to drill phone wire sized holes thru the heads ( before they are glued to the block ) then stick the phone wire thru the holes and glue then from the inside. Then bring the wire thru the holes after. That way, if you cut them too long , just slide them thru the boots until it looks right.

I got your back brah !!! I like it too. Very clean. Resemblence to the camaro but less busy. True hardtop design. I would like to see more pictures but a google search gave me no photos of this car. As for naming it a chevelle? Whatever. What difference does it make. The chevelle badge is most likely only to draw people in. And even it that is the name, why must it have to look and sound like a chevelle? The days of V8 powered passenger cars are numbered, although it might not seem like it now. Even the V6 will soon be phased out. But that aside, in a few years I will be in the market for a new car, and this might be an interesting alternative to a civic or corolla.

Hobby stores in the Harlington area
sak replied to sak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ahh yes Harlington in the state of Texas. -
Going to a place called Westlaco later this month. The airport is in a place called Harlington. I assume these two cities are not far apart. Anybody familiar with this place and know if there are any hobby stores in this area? Thanks JEFF

My pinvise has a chuck at both ends, one for small bits , one for larger. But even the small end wont grip them anymore, perhaps I will try the glue idea. Thank you
-
Was just wondering is anybody has a tip on small drillbits. My pinvise does not accept small drill bits anybody. Not sure if its just worn out. The pinvise does not grip the smaller bits. Perhaps a pinvise meant only for the smallest bits? Thanks Jeff

Looking very badass. But I would recommend getting rid of the starter motor. The motor in question could only be a motor to propell the power seat and it would have been under the seat, not under the car itself. But still gonna be a awesome model, car.

Wow every one is badass !!!! Can't wait for the 2012 crop !

Working front suspension, need your ideas
sak replied to Six-Fo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mr. Obsessive that suspension looks top shelf. One question however. If you make the control arms adjustable, did you not have to build also some form of adjustable ball joints? -
This thing is completely badass !!! Never seen bare metal foil that looks that smooth. Top shefl ! A few questions if I may. What did you use for the fuel hoses? And chamois? Any particular brand? Ive seen cheap ones and very expensive ones, does it matter ? Again badass !!! Jeff

It is what it is. Not really too concerned too much if its not entirely acurate as long as it goes together nicely. I knew about that chrome but did not add it because I thought it looked better without. It just doesnt seem right. If Ford added some kind of trim to the rear pillar as well, or if it was a bubbletop design, It would look more appealing to me.I sure could have used those photos while I was building mine. That picture will come in handy as I might have to build my own.

Thank you all for the kind words. And for letting me know about the caution sticker. Big time goof but its there to stay. Have to remeber that for next time. What makes the kit not good? I noticed that the engine sits far too low. So I added some plastic peices to the frame to prop it up. But that changes the angle to the tramsmission and it would not fit so I had to carve large parts of top to make it fit. Second thing is I hate when the interior panels dont line up with the exterior. To get it too line up, I had to grind alot off the top of the interior parts and the bottom of body shell to get the top of the door panels to reach the top of the doors. I also had to position the frame a little more forward so that the arches of the body lined to the arches in the interior. The parcel tray is actually glued to the rear window and not the body shell like it should be. I find this to be a problem with model kits that use a rear seat as a seperate piece. The lower radiator hose and the water pump is one piece so If you want a lower radiator hose, you will need to cut it off and make another because you will not be able to get the motor in if you do. It bottoms out on a piece of the frame. And they added two sets of badges, for a GT and GTA which is good but they did not even add ONE set of mirrors! Oh one more thing. the front strut rods and sway bars are formed into a big block of plastic. I thought this looked stupid so I carved the whole thing and made now strut rods and outer sway bars. Be nice it they made the assembly a serperate piece as a happy medium like the 1966 nova. If these sort of things dont bother you, I recommend it, it is a good model kit. Nice details and most of the things fit nicely. Like the fact that you have an option of two different forms of transmission.

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/OK-INDUSTRIES-Wire-Wrapping-Wire-2TDT8?Pid=search this is what you want.

I am going to consider this finished. Amt did not include side mirrors or shock towers so when I come across something, I will add them, but not sure how long that will take. I tried to make the best of this terrible model kit.

I probly would have alcladed the entire thing and then filled the low black areas with thinned down paint but that's because I dont have the patience to try to paint all those thin silver lines. But it does look really good.
