Very cool. Looks great with that hoodscoop.
  2. Little update, finished foilin. Some imperfections in the paint but just want to get this finished. Almost done though. chow.
  3. thats looking badass for sure. You add a wash after primer to get that effect in the body panel dividing lines?
  4. Those wheels were included? They sure look alot like the recall wheels.
  5. Never seen the real car so I cannot appreciate the ability of others to see the imperfections but in my opnion, this kit will be badass !!! No matter how unaccurate it is. Its different and correct me if I am wrong but the only non-big three vintage american car that has been made into a model kit . It certianly looks like the best made anyway. Now if only somebody from Moebius is reading this. What about a muntz jet next. jeff
  6. Very bizzar ! But different and I like that about it, reminds me of a hotwheels car. Very cool !
  7. Mr cranky. Saw this in a video I whatched about building diaramas. The man used something called marmite in place of the hairspray. http://www.tabletop-terrain.com/archives/2008/02/19/852/
  8. My only gripe is the color keyed alternator, everthing else is spot on !
  9. What is the purpose of the hairspray? To prevent the top coat from adhering to the undercoat, making it easier to scrspe into ?
  10. I think bare metal foil is the best thing for small things like that. But if you use the alunimum, get some of this. Bottle says it can be watered down. Don't. Use dry brush or it will be too runny and pool up. I have used the spray adhesive before but I sprayed it into a bottle cap and brushed it on. Worked better for me.
  11. Has anybody built the resin 1961 cadillac coupe? And if so, is there any issues with it? I have seen it on the modelhouse website. I believe its the same one that Mr. Obsessive built but he has not been online in quite some time. Thanks Jeff
  12. For next time, there is a easy way to fix those wires, drill holes in the middle of the boots on the valve covers. I think a size 77 is what I use. So already have the holes , I assume so drill deeper right thru the head and into the block if you have to. Then just push or pull the wires to get them into position. Should not even need to use glue. Might not be too late to do this with your engine. Jeff
  13. perhaps just make both surfaces flat with a small file. And It is best to glue a small piece of plastic to the inside of either the fender or bumper. Don't glue the bumper directly to the fender or the glue will ooze out and ruin it.
  14. Don't think aunt edna would be caught dead in anything with at best a split bench but nonetheless, cool car. And refreshing to see a non-gto a-body. Jeff
  15. Back when daimler owned chrysler, Mercedes was producing cars similar to this.. True hardtop, slick styling, but none of this found its way to the chrysler products. They really dropped the ball when they made the charger into a four door sedan. Not even a good looking four door in my opinion. They should take notes from Audi, who knows how to make a sedan look good.
  16. I bought a bottle of alclad black primer. I am not sure if it has been changed. It is now in a smaller plastic bottle, not glass and I beleive that it doesn't react the same. It seems to be too thin and pulls away from the slightest edge. Anyybody else experience problems with this stuff? Jeff
  17. I have been to a few american style flea markets and they semmed to be full of venders selling mostly new products, cloting, as-seen-on-tv stuff, did not see anything of interest to me. But I you can find one that deals with collectibles or even just antiques or other junk, you will have great luck. Flea markets are the only place I buy mine, sometimes as low as only a few dollars. I went with a friend to something called a comic-con. Mostly comic books but a guy had a table with starwar toys, but underneath was still wrapped model car kits for five bucks each.
  18. Wa it a real car? Maybe email the author of this , he might have some engine pics of it. http://www.nhra.com/blog/dragster-insider/page/4/
  19. That is unreal. Model of the year by far in m y opinion.
  20. These are the slotted wheels I took from a monogram bel air. And the grille, still have to glue the verticle bars onto it. And put on a new liscense plate decal.
  21. Small update, Got the shell painted, need to add more clearcoat and polish it still. Worried about how this is going to go together. Both the frame and the shell were badly warped and I straightened best I could. And I noticed that the interior parcal tray does not meet the shell so no way to secure it there. Very awfull design in this kit. But hopefully I can begin foiling it this month. Jeff
  22. I used electical wire. Not sure the gauge, it rubbed off the spool.
  23. I believe they need to be thinned down. I dabbled in it and I mixed one part nail polish to one part acetone and it seemed to work alright. Make sure you use primer. that stuff will chew into the plastic.
