  1. Fantastic build. Again I ask "Dave, with all the outrageous builds you do,do you ever eat or sleep?"
  2. Nice build. Those old cars do have alot of chrome. If you want a real challenge BMF Amt's 58 Impala, that one took me three nights to finish.
  3. Very nice builds. Good looking paint jobs. I would probably make a good dent in my own collection if I could just settle for box stock with a nice paint job. But when I start to build something, one detail leads to another and another and I have to modify this and I have to change that etc etc... Your builds are encouraging to just sit build something simple.
  4. I agree, I think Barrett Jackson has ruined it for the average guy to buy a old American car for a decent price. Now only people with more money than sense can afford these cars. And you're right, every Joe out there thinks his rusted piece of junk is worth a small fortune.

  6. I saw Nuge along time ago, (loudest concert I've ever been to)my ears rang for three days. It was a great concert. I still have a button from that show, it's says" If it's too loud, you're too old."Ted Nugent. "Stranglehold" is the most kick butt rock song ever, IMO.
  7. Nice job. As simple as the Revell kit is, it can still be built up nice.
  8. I had a nice quiet Christmas, my son gave me a gift card for Hobbytown. My wife, mom,and nephew gave me gift cards for Lowes, and Home Depot. Which I promptly went out yesterday and bought a new Dewalt 12" compound miter saw and Dewalt mitersaw horse. They will make my house renovation and woodworking much easier.
  9. Beautiful Job! Dave with all the execellent builds you do, I have a question. Do you ever eat or sleep?
  10. I've been wanting the Red Baron kit for a while. I missed the last reissue. I wish Revell would repop the Uncertain T.
  11. I love watching F1 and I really miss WRC. To compare the two is kind of like apples and oranges. They are both very demanding forms of racing but are very different. I used to love watching Schumacher drive, he was like a robot. Very precise and very few mistakes. Probably my favorite WRC driver had to be Marcus Gronholm- THE GUY NEVER BLINKED!-he was unreal to watch. I have to agree, rally drivers have cajones made of steel. I wish Speed would bring it back.
  12. Beautiful job so far Dave, looking foward to the other half of the project. If the F1 kit wasn't that great, you sure fooled me! Nice job, Tom
  13. Very nice classic looking build.
  14. Looking good so far Dave. I have wanted to do this build myself. I got the same idea as you did after watching that show on Speed. I enjoyed seeing them driving something totally different. Gordon was a pretty quick learner, and we can all see now that Montoya has become comfortable in a Sprint Cup car. Keep us posted on your build, I'm looking foward to seeing the finished product. I just might be tempted to pick up those kits myself.
  15. Thanks Dave, I didn't realize the contact page had changed. Tom
  16. I'd like to have a current Web site or address along with products and prices. I would like to have a couple of those Top Fuel wheel sets for some of my builds. Anyone have any info out there?
  17. I think we ought to let the car companies all file Chapter 11 so that the greedy companies as well as the greedy UAW restructure and come back to some reasonable levels. They are both guilty of the prediciment they are in. The companies like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan all seem to be surviving and doing well. So why can't we. As far as thinking we don't have the right to drive what we want, thats a bunch of garbage. You can build all the hybrids and econo boxes you want and people will buy them. But I will drive what I like and can afford. I have owned both economy cars (VW.Honda, Nissan) and large vehicles (Grand Marquis, Crown Vic, Xterra, Impala). I think the market should dictate what is sold not the government or some socialist ideas.
  18. Now all they have to do is bring back the US grand prix at Long Beach.
  19. Dirk, If you are looking to get some parts chromed. Why don't you try Chrometech USA, they chrome parts the same way the kit manufacturers do ( probably better). They have a web site with all their pricing. Alcad looks good but not as good as kit chrome, plus it is a fragile coating and doesn't do well with alot of handling. Just my suggestion.
  20. I hate to see the big 3 in such dire straits, but that is a result of three things. 1.) The unions are bleeding the car companies dry (average wages are between $45 to $75 an hour) plus all the benefits and all the retired workers. 2.)The arogance and corporate greed. 3.) And the last reason is just plain simple, they build junk. They design some good looking cars (Corvette,Camaro,Mustang,Charger,Challenger etc.) but the quality and fit and finish of the cars are junk. Now before anyone goes off on me, I have owned Chevys, Fords, Buicks. I have also owned VW's,Audi,Honda,Nissan. The older American cars I've owned were great (2 Impalas 65&71, 69 Chevelle), but the newer ones have all had problems (trim, mechanical, paint, rust). My dad and my grandfather were loyal Chevy owners. Back in the 50's and the 60's we built good looking durable cars, and there was severe brand loyalty. When you went to go buy a new car you usually went back with same brand because you had good luck and alot of servicable miles with little or no problems. Today such a thing is non exsistant. I currently drive a 97 Crown Vic, mechanically it has been a pretty good car, but it had a couple of poor design flaws that were very expensive to fix. It has 105,000 miles on it and I hope it gives me a few more servicable miles. But the several imports I have owned have given me few if any problems. The quality of design and build, also the attention to detail have been great. We have the ability to design and build cars of equal or better quality, but we lost our way somewhere. I think the American car companies have gone from confidence to arrogance, and I think this going to be the reason for their demise.
  21. I paint 1:1 cars for a living, looks to me like the primer didn't stick for some reason. Maybe the area was contaminated by something. Your best bet would be to lightly sand with 600 grit or finer as well as clean the whole body.
  22. I usually get my issues 2 to 3 weeks after you guys are talking about getting yours. That was a really nice suprise to get #135 early. But now I have probably jinxed myself and all my future isuues will come by pony express.
  23. What a suprise, I received issue #134 in the mail on Saturday and came home from work today to find issue #135 in my mailbox I have to compliment Gregg and Harry, the magazine is looking better than ever. The layout and graphics are spot on, and so are the articles. I'm looking foward to 12 issues a year, I renewed my subscription several months ago and it isn't due till the end of next year. But I have all the intentions of renewing my sub yet again at that time. I hope MCM stays around for a long time.
  24. If Massa wins (which I hope he does) Wonderboy has to finish 5th or better. Can you say Deja Vu? I seem to remember he was in this same exact situation last year and his ego (or stupidity) got the best of him. Well, we will see what happens. I like Massa, he deserves to win the championship.
  25. F1 is the most high tech racing on the planet and thats what makes it what it is. You've heard the expression,"Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go." The other saying I like is," If you can't hang with the big dogs, get off the porch."
