  1. Grabbed another couple of Revell 29s from Hobby Lobby seeing as it’s 40%-off week. I wonder if the supply of the 29s will start to dwindle now that the 30 is on the way? Building up my stocks, just in case…I’m not getting caught again if someone drops the tool or misplaces it or whatever happened the first time ?
  2. Thanks fellas! Tiny bit of progress today after letting the paint dry for a few days…painting the wood grain! Masked and shot Tamiya tan acrylic: Wood grain is burnt umber artist’s paint: Then shot a thinned coat of candy yellow and carefully unmasked… Excited to start to see those different material colors come together - the matte wood, shiny pearl paint, satin top and steel wheels… Excited to have some major components in paint and ready to start some assembly and detailing…more soon!
  3. Absolutely beautiful - these tiny parts are like jewelry! I'd be really proud to make anything that intricate and well-done!
  4. I noticed that some Australian stores have them up for pre-order already, with a release date of November...
  5. That’s a really good tip! Never knew about this kit!
  6. Future doesn’t polish out well AT ALL in my experience (although I’ve seen good results with it in instances where people haven’t needed to polish out at all.) I like Createx acrylic gloss clear as a non-yellowing easy-to-apply option for when I’m worried about solvents affecting what I’m shooting it over. Polishes out nicely too, once fully cured…
  7. The weathering on that engine is gorgeous, Steve! Nice work!

  9. What Mark said - love how this little Coupe is coming together! WAY cool!
  10. Ordered one of these a month or so ago and the eBayer was trying to pull some kind of scam…so I got a refund, reordered elsewhere and it came in 3 days! Excited to start messing with this one
  11. Well, a quarter is 25 cents, so it's 25 cents past eight ?‍♂️? Sounds like she was just trying to use metric time instead of imperial...
  12. One of you guys in Europe should buy a case or two of these and make some money shipping them to us impatient people in the US
  13. Funny thing - I saw a bunch of maybe 15 or 16 year old kits walking up to that purple hot rod in the last pic above and one kid says "WOAH!! That's beautiful!" and the other one says "Dude, I want one of those when I get my permit!" and another pulls his phone out to take a photo and I thought "That's really cool, these younger guys being into hot rods too!" Turned out they were talking about the black Nissan parked next to it ???
  14. For the same reason aircraft modelers are. You’re trying to emulate the look of a gap between two panels, where one doesn’t exist on the model.
  15. This is true - I’ve been watching a bunch of aircraft and military modeling videos lately picking up tips on painting!
  16. All of these seem to have those little dots on the side - the first one I did looked GREAT until I laid the clear down and couldn’t figure out what caused it. They’re barely noticeable in bare plastic, but much more so once it’s got paint and clear over top…
  17. Thanks David! Tiny bit of progress today (especially considering the amount of time I spent at the bench being unproductive…) - got some purple laid down on the parts that are meant to be purple! First up, shot them all with Testor’s Purple Pearl: It’s a nice shade, but even over a light primer it was a little darker than I had in mind…not going for a traditional woody color scheme on this one: Has a little too much of a burgundy tint to it for my liking, so I mixed up a hot pink mica pearl plus Future combination… …which should lighten this color up nicely and add a little flip-flop to proceedings: Tada! Much more like I had in mind! Now, 90% of this will be painted to simulate wood when we’re done, but I like the color better now. And that’s today’s progress…thanks for looking, more soon!
  18. Another fine cars and coffee today…it had Miatas: Mustangs: MGs: Minitrucks: ‘Merican iron: And more! https://public.fotki.com/NewYorkSpeedShop/11-cars/car-shows/cars-and-coffee-at/page9.html
  19. Hope they sell big ‘n’ little dragster tires as a parts-only deal - I’m always struggling to find those without parting out entire kits to get them…
  20. Thanks fellas! Interesting about the casket company, @David G.! Been plugging away at this thing - picked some big pointy headlamps out of my spares box, made the suspension linkages, made the inner door panels, picked some taillights and made mounts for them and found a license plate frame for the rear…next up is blowing it all apart and cleaning everything up and getting it ready for paint and additional detailing: (Excuse the poor alignment for practically every part on there in the pics above - it’s all held together with Elmers and poster tack ??). More soon!
  21. Spotted these on the Atlantis FB page tonight:
  22. Any day I see a Miata is a good day - and this one was super clean!
  23. That’s gorgeous Bob - great color!
  24. Spotted this lady on Instagram recently - AMAZING how good she is at brush painting these miniature fabric-looking patterns on this model: Video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRmEDTrn0Hj/?utm_medium=copy_link And a bunch more cool pics here: https://instagram.com/juliwerra?utm_medium=copy_link I feel like she wouldn’t have much trouble painting chrome trim and dashboard details if she built a car…
