Purchased another can of Mr. Surfacer primer and another can of Testors Supreme Lacquer in Fiery Orange for the 1960 Buick while checking out the model kit aisle. Nothing new on the shelves...again. Joe

I NEED A MODEL CAR IDEA

Or, pick a kit that appeals to you and just start the building process...see where the journey takes you. ? Joe -
I think we have had about 58 - 59 inches of snow dropped in this area so far. And more on the way this evening. We are on track with a similar amount for this time last year. More snow and BIGGER flakes! ? Joe

1959 Chevy El Camino
Joe Nunes replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I think the one thing keeping me from taking a serious look at actually building this kit is coming up with a nice color combination for the design. A color either works or doesn't work for me immediately when viewing the '59 El Camino, be it a 1:1 or a model. ? Joe -

Will be watching this. Have one on the shelf but haven’t opened the kit. Have fun with your build! Joe -

Made up a new outside window molding piece for the top and I like the new size better. The original window molding piece will work better for the inside of the top. Also am considering a small piece of the plastic sheet for the firewall, similar to the addition to my AMT 1936 Ford Roadster build as shown in an included photo. Once that’s made I can do a bit more final sanding and then wash the parts in preparation for the primer coat. I have included a photo showing my color choice for the major items; straight out of the can for the body, and grill. The frame rails and engine block will be body color with a Testors Dull Cote overspray to break up the color sheen a bit. Interior will be white with body color accents. Have not decided on the color for the top just yet. ? Joe

Orange/Purple/White Freightliner COE

This turned out nice. Put some lines behind the cab and some grease on the fifth wheel and you will be ready to roll on down the highway. Well done! ? Cool sun visor, too. Joe -
Great looking model. Well done! ? Joe

Have been looking at the back window opening on the top. Decided I didn’t want to leave it as a “hole” on the model. A window surround was made for the inside of the top from the same plastic sheet material used to make the details for the inside of the body. I thought it looked good on the inside of the top, so, I tried it out on the outside of the rear window and will be making a matching design outside surround, too. Perhaps a wee bit more narrow though for the surround outside width dimension on each of the four sides so it won’t be overbearing in size. ? Joe

Very nice build on this police cruiser. Well done! ? Joe

It's a nice quiet moment. A pretty snow scape with falling snow, the "larder" is stocked and the gas tanks full, wood stacked and dry for the fireplace, and Joyce is having a good day while working on a puzzle at the table. I am blessed. Joe

I don't normally care much for the Mustang II body style, however, this model build is downright cool! Great build and color choice. Well done! ? Joe

Very nice model and a great color choice. Sure brings back some memories; those 1:1 cars were huge compared with what we drive today. Well done! ? Joe

Went to the store this morning and an 18 egg carton was $8.56...last week a 24 egg carton was $6.38. Big difference in a short time. ? Joe

Very nice model! The color choice fits the era and the dark bed wood is a great touch that goes well with the overall look of the pickup. Well done! ? Joe -
