Nostalgia Fuel Dragster--Blower Manifold (01/28/23)
Joe Nunes replied to Straightliner59's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
This is so much fun to look over all of those details you have constructed and added to the dragster. I do admire your talent! ? Joe -
This is looking good! ? Joe

Went down to the bench this morning and took the clothes pin clamps off the body. Had to play around with the model for a few moments. The top is sitting on the body without pins, glue or tape. Joyce thought it looked cute! ? Joe

Revell 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda 1/24 Scale in Metallic Gold.
Joe Nunes replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Very nice model. That color would have been popular on the 1:1 car had it been available back in the day. Well done! ? Joe -
Tonight I enjoyed some time at the bench. Decided to see if I could glue the new upper body welt line using only one piece of half round material so there would not be any breaks in the welt from one side to the other. A length of Plastruct .040”/1.0mm half round was pulled from the package, I think I took a deep breath, and I started the gluing procedure. Moving slowly, and using various sizes of clothes pins for clamps, the half round was successfully glued onto the body. A new experience! ? Joe

Has anyone tried this in their 70's?

No one should make fun of someone who is going through the chaos of dementia. I am watching my bride of nearly 54 years suffering from the associated problems. We make the most out of the good days and on those days/partial days of darkness there are some rough moments. She doesn't deserve to have to go through this...no one should have to bear the weight of this terrible condition, especially late in life. So please stop and consider the situation before making an inappropriate comment about dementia or those who are effected with this illness. It very well could be you facing the situation during your later years. I hope you consider this. ? Joe -
I like this. Had a '52 4 Dr. Deluxe during the late '60's that was black with a very light green top. Have fun building your model! ? Joe

Those look to be very useful for the shop. I like the large size drawers with the top unit and will be purchasing a unit for my own shop. Thanks for sharing this. ? Joe

I finished the re-varnishing application on my bride's wind chimes. Had done this inside my house and used the paint booth to extract the strong varnish fumes. Today I thought I would take the chimes down from the ceiling hook and put them away until Spring weather returns. As I thought about this I turned on my small bench fan to circulate some air and suddenly the wind chimes started to ring. Softly and with intermittent runs of random notes. Reminded me of sitting on the harbor dock and listening while the wind rocks the sailboats at anchor in the bays. What a pleasing effect those chimes produced and I decided to leave the wind chimes where they are and will continue to enjoy this unexpected and calming experience while at the model bench. ? Joe

I have six multiple storage bins that hold the small items, which are stored by subject name. Most of the bins are labeled for easy use. In addition I use the clear with blue lid plastic storage bins put out by GLAD; there are different sizes available to fit the required kit storage needs. Ziplock storage bags, available in various sizes, hold/separate kit items for storage within these snap-on lid containers. I also use a three drawer plastic roll-about unit for storing kits that are in storage bags or partial boxes; there are 10 kits stored within the unit shown in the photo and I can also store modeling tools on top of the drawer unit where they are within easy reach. Hope these ideas help. ? Joe

1966 Ford F100 Seaplane Truck
Joe Nunes replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Now THIS is unique! Never knew that something like this existed. Pretty neat idea. Well done! ? Joe -
This brings back some memories! I built one of these many moons ago and painted it red. Hand painted "Hot & Saucy" onto the sides using white paint. Let's just say that the model probably looked a lot better after the M-80 went off! ???. Yours is looking good! Joe

Things I collect and repurpose...
Joe Nunes replied to Kit Karson's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I don't have enough hair left on top to even bother using hairspray! ??. It is a good idea though. Thanks for sharing. ? Joe -
Thanks for sharing the heads up regarding the drawer liner material as I wasn't aware of the problem. Since I have it on my support block primarily to keep the support block from sliding on whatever surface it is resting on I should be okay. Anyone wanting to construct this support can choose a non-skid material they're comfortable with. Thanks again for sharing your information with us as that's how we all can learn. ? Joe Edit: I just now went to the original topic post and deleted a photo and a bit of text reflecting on this heads up situation. Hope this helps to avoid any potential problems with the drawer liner material. ?

One of my favorite Tom D. kits from the past. Your model looks very good! Would like to see this kit again. Well done! ? Joe Additional: I took a bit of blue food coloring and mixed it with water to obtain a light blue color. Filled those ice blocks to the top and let them sit for a few minutes. Then I carefully dumped the liquid out, rinsed the cubes quickly with tap water, and let them air dry upside down (open side up). When dry they had just enough blue tint to look like ice. Really added to the effect.

Looks great! I really like your choice of wheels and tires. Well done! ? Joe
