  3. I too would like to see this model offered again; a cool model and, of course, Ed Roth. A little story: years ago in 1964 or 1965, somewhere back then, a young teenager was walking through the fairgrounds in Ionia, Michigan. He saw what looked to be one big beatnik wearing a sloppy white painted t-shirt and the neatest goofy looking black hat. The guy was painting a sweatshirt for someone, talking loud, was very animated and, dang it all, he was having a great time doing his thing. The teen walked over and looked at the artwork but the cost for a painted sweatshirt was too much for the kid. Ed and I talked for awhile and I started to take my leave, when suddenly Ed looked at me and asked me what I had in mind for the painting on a white sweatshirt. Mothers Worry with a GTO was the answer I gave him. He got out a white sweatshirt, asked me if I would mind dusting off his air compressor, threw me a rag and started using his airbrush. I told him I could not afford the sweatshirt and he just kept being Ed Roth while he worked. The sweatshirt was something to behold when he finished the artwork, talked cars with me for a few minutes...and then handed me the sweatshirt. For free!! He wouldn't take any money for it. I was totally floored by this man's thoughts and generous manner towards a boy who didn't have much back then. I wore that sweatshirt for a long time until it finally fell apart. And years later I had the good fortune to meet a man while flying RC model aircraft, who is now a very good friend, who knew Ed Roth in California as a friend and fellow hot rodder. When I told him about my experience with Ed Roth as a young teenager he got a huge smile on his face and told me, "That was Ed as I remember him." Joe
  4. A very sharp looking model with a great color combination. The photo work is convincing and if there were tire tracks showing up in the dirt the model could fool you for a 1:1 pickup. Well done! ? Joe
  5. A truly outstanding model project. Well done! ? Joe
  6. While cutting the inside grid from 4 stackable segments for my food dehydrator I heard what sounded like an egg shell cracking... and the sound was coming from under my foot. I had put the plastic body (being restored) for an original 1960 Buick HT inside the dehydrator to check out the space and clearance. Must have pulled the steering wheel, that I had recently cleaned up, from the kit box while getting the Buick body out. Yepper...was in multiple pieces and flatter than a pancake. Took some time to get the pieces back together and the steering column where it belonged relative to the steering wheel and now the glue is drying and the assembly propped up correctly. I am not even going to think about moving the steering wheel until tomorrow! ?? Joe

  11. A great feeling indeed! Enjoy every one you can as you never know when life will change. My long time (though not nearly long enough) bride is entering a stage in her life where she is losing her memory. Some days are harder than others so we make the most out of the good days when we can. Enjoy the days with your wife. Joe

  20. There is an area on the body that keeps getting my attention and I thought I would call it out for you so you can be aware. The joint between the cowl piece and body sides can separate due to there not being much plastic material for a secure glued butt joint (can I really say that here? ?) The joint on the port side has started to come apart a couple of times so far on the build. I glued the cowl to the body again this morning and have decided to install a piece of flat plastic across the glued joint, on the inside of the body, to reinforce the area and as an aid to keep the parts together. I will make the reinforcement pieces to look like upholstered strike pads where a driver’s foot might contact the inside of the body. Nothing fancy but it should do the job for me. Joe
