The upper body welt needed a good sanding to make it look nice and uniform. I decided to just remove the welt and replace it with a piece of half-round plastic. Started to sand the welt off and as my eyes wandered around the work bench I saw my Empire 6” ruler made of tempered stainless steel. Running the sharp tool edge over the plastic welt resulted in a flat, smooth, removal of the welt plastic and brought the welt height down to where it is even with the body plastic. I have already scribed a relief below the original welt material so now I can glue the new half round welt plastic to replace the original uneven upper body welt.
