  1. I'm interested in seeing what everyone uses or what methods you use to hold a car body for spray painting. Can y'all just post up some photos of what gadgets you've cobbled up to hold that body while you shoot it please?
  2. It's funny indeed. But wouldn't it be cool if one could figure out how to model it for real? As in have the coat, hat and sunglasses on but still not see anything that is under it? I thought of using some clear plastic but you could still see that....
  3. This should help Harry... I have the same kit. It's 1/32 scale and is widely regarded as one of the best kits Tamiya has ever produced! The squares are 1 inch and the car model is a 1/25th scale 66 Nova. Hosted on Fotki
  4. Looks great. May I ask...I see 2 red lines coming from the battery...one looks pretty heavy..other than the starter what is the second one for?
  5. Not gonna get into this one...already been called the Gasser Nazi......
  6. Actually Harry it's much better with the slight dimple because the Zero was built with flush rivets. So anything protruding from the surface would be way incorrect. At this scale it would be nigh onto impossible to show each rivet as a tiny circle.
  7. Looks great! Back in high school one of my buddies had a 69 with the 383 in it. Always loved that RR sound!
  8. Nice! Always loved the first Chevelle. But that engine bay needs a couple of things....just to detail it up a bit. Like an upper radiator hose and some plug wires. That would finish it right out nicely!
  9. We're lucky with car models...there are only a very few lines to work with. On an airplane model there can be 50 or more!
  10. Very nice. Any engine shots or chassis shots?
  11. Hmmmm...looks like a 396 to me.
  12. I just posted a little blurb about this very subject a couple of weeks ago. Their service is excellent!...and free! They rebuilt my 150 and it came back like a new brush in just over a week. You don't have to call them or anything...just package up your brush and send it to them with a description of what's wrong and your return address...they take care of the rest. Badger airbrushes are warranteed for life I guess!
  13. As a moderator on another big modeling forum I know how you feel! Good luck and let's see some more of those great builds!
  14. So I think I just learned something here. I thought ALL NASCAR race cars had stick-on vinyl graphics and NONE were ever clear coated over those stick-ons. But from what I gathered here some cars actually have painted on graphics? And some cars have stick-on graphics that they actually clear coat over? How the heck do you know which are which? Or is it ONLY the cars that run on the big super speedways that use the clear coat? I'm presuming for aerodynamic reasons?
  15. Actually I love the dates...shows the Mayans were wrong!
  16. Actually Bruce you can tell quite easily. We had a few models present side by side and you could easily tell which ones were clear coated and which were not. I don't really have a horse in this race as I've only built 2 modern NASCAR race cars and I still have that third one partly done. I was just curious how a group of modelers who regularly build NASCAR race cars felt about the matter....
  17. Very nice indeed! Nice detailing in the dashboard too!
  18. This was the subject of a discussion my modeling club had...the practise of clearcoating over the top of decals. On the 1:1 cars, all the decals are actually vinyl stickons so they leave a definite "edge". So to be accurate we should not spray clear over the tops because we lose that "edge." This was the basis of the discussion we had back and forth...some guys wanted the accuracy, some guys didn't care and wanted that super smooth glossy finish. Just curious as to what's the opinion on this group of NASCAR modelers? And my apologies if there already is a discussion on this...I couldn't find one via the search feature...
  19. There already is a rather long gasser inspiration thread going here.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51012&st=0&p=571668&hl=gassers&fromsearch=1&#entry571668
  20. Just go to the old thread and highlight the address up in the address bar with your cursor. Then press "CTRL" and "C" at the same time. This will save a copy of the address. Then go to your new thread and where you want that address to appear, press "CTRL" and "V" at the same time and it will then be copied to that spot.
  21. Welcome aboard! My son-in-law is a Lieutenant in the Connecticut Corrections Dept.
  22. Like Harry and Sixties Sam, my nostalgia time was the late 60's when I was in High School. No bills to pay except for my car. And in 67 and 68, that was a 56 Chevy with a 327 in it and a three on the floor. Soon replaced in 69 by my beloved 66 Chevelle SS 396. Jacked up at all 4 corners...Gabriel Hi-Jackers on the rear and El Camino springs in front, a flat black hood with a 67 Corvette type fiberglass hood scoop molded on, cream color with the light tan vinyl top, Muncie 4 speed, Hurst competition plus shifter, Ansen Sprints all around with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires..."N's" in the rear... Hooker headers into 2 1/2" straight pipes and a pair of Corvair Turbo mufflers and 2 curved dumps right before the rear end. A pair of ladder bars at the rear end for traction. 4.10 Zoom gears. A Schiefer clutch and flywheel and a Lakewood blow shield. Engine modified the first time with an Edelbrock hi-rise and a Holley 780 carb and a Crane cam...Second engine was a built to the hilt 427 with ALL the goodies!! ..And for sound...a BOOMIN' system for the time...an Audiovox 8 track player radio with MAYBE 20 watts per channel RMS into 5" round speakers in the door panels and 2 6X9's in the rear deck! Hey...for the time that was one of the best available! Goin to the beach and the high school football games with the prettiest girl in school (homecoming queen...later my first wife!) ...hanging out at Kelly's (a burger place)..the occasional race out on rte 52...going to the drags every sunday.... Loved the Beach Boys, Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix... Tennis court dances and the drive in movies! No drugs for me or my friends...just a few beers... Man those were the days!
  23. Nahhh...no worries man....just funnin' on ya! But there really are a lot of good knowledgeable builders on FB in certain groups!
  24. An Incense burner??? You gotta be kidding me! That is pretty cool! It always amazes me where we modelers find miscellaneous stuff to use in our models and dioramas! Good thinking man!
