Very nice! It captures this type of car perfectly. Good work on the motor too. I like the little details, like the red overspray on the support bars....exactly the way it would've been done. As a short track fan, I love it!!

Missing Link has a photoetch script set for a '69....it might work for a '72, I'm no Olds expert.

Yes, almost everybody was doing it at the time. It was thought that a small tire on the left front would put more weight on the left front, causing the car to be looser. In the years since then, I've learned that on an independent front suspention, it was pretty much a waste of time, lol. But you know racing...monkey see, monkey do!

There is ONE Richard Petty car I want to build....an '80 Pontiac Lemans LMS car that he ran ONE time in Aseboro NC. I can only find a couple of pictures of the car, and they aren't very clear. Kyle also ran it a few times with 42 on it, but the 43 only ran once. Here is the car: Now...does anyone know what that sponsor is on the quarter panel? I can make out "Hogan", but thats about it, and this is the clearest picture I have. I guess I could build the model without the quarter panel lettering, but I'd like to do it right. Or if you have any more pictures of this car, that'd be cool too! Thanks!

Wow, very nice! The finish looks real. I tried doing an F-100 in a bare metal finish and it looked terrible! I'd LOVE to do some more planes, but bare metal finishes and masking windows are my downfall! Lol.

I'll be watching this, awesome project! And guys, to clear up any confusion, both the Year One T/A and the original SAB T/A were '77s, but the only visual difference is the grill....'77 had a honeycomb pattern, '78 had an "X" pattern. This is the Year One T/A............ And this is the "original" (clone) SAB T/A....... And yes, this one is being built correctly using the Revell kit which has Fisher T-Tops....the original (and the MPC/AMT kit) had Hurst T-tops. Can't wait to see more!

John...I actually have built other cars from my past...a '68 GTX my dad had, the Chevy truck I towed this race car with, a '67 Camaro my sister had, other race cars I remember from the 70s and 80s...this kind of stuff is what made modeling fun for me again. Got many more planned too, it's just a matter of getting time to do them all! Lol. Greg....yes, I think I do need to add some more weathering around the motor, and I just noticed that cowl vent needs a wash too....but my dad made us keep the body as clean as possible! He always said "they might forget who won, but they'll always remember two things....the one that put on the best show, and the one with the purtiest car, and just in case you don't put on a good show, lets make sure the car is purty!"
