  1. I believe as far as a stencil, thats the only game in town. R&M is a great company, however, so you'll have no problem getting it....it's just if I'm not mistaken, he has a flat rate 9 bucks for shipping. Not bad if you're getting a bunch of stuff, but pretty pricey for a tire stencil. Have you considered using decals?
  2. I live near Ron and most (if not ALL) of those places are indeed real. As a matter of fact, I gotta go down there in a couple weeks to cut grass at a house we have for sale and I will be dropping by Zeb's BBQ to fill up with stew!
  3. Thank you, Thats what I was hoping for!
  4. I was spraying a few parts for a current build with Alclad chrome. I knew I was running low, but thought I had enough. I was wrong. They really need another coat to look right. My question is....will I have to strip this stuff and start over from scratch, or can I just shoot another coat when I get some more (in about a week or two) and be good to go? Thanks!
  5. Thats really nice! Good to see those Rally wheels on there too, perfect for that car.
  6. Exactly. I don't care either way, and to be quite honest about the accuracy thing, I don't think judges at model shows care either. As far as my own, some I clear, others I don't....just depends on my mood. I have found, however, that gold foil printed with an Alps printer can end up looking spotty or not quite as bright underneath clear, so use caution there.
  7. A little bit of Elmers white glue diluted with water.
  8. I've heard Tamiya clear yellow does pretty good for that, but I've never tried it.
  9. Yes, first you have ACME-IPMS in the Atlanta area....great club that hosts the Southern NNL every November: http://new.acme-ipms.com/ And if you feel like driving a little further, the club I'm in is the Georgia Mountain Modelers, based in Cumming GA....... http://www.mountainmodelers.org/ We meet at Hobbytown USA Cumming Ga on the last tuesdays of each month.
  10. Awesome job on a beautiful race car. I was actually at the 1973 Daytona 500 when this car SHOULDA won! He had it till right there close to the end.
  11. I don't know about those driving ranges. Last time I tried one they kept trying to hit my truck with golf balls.
  12. I think the original question was are there "any online shops who carry his products", not whether or not he has a website himself. No, I've never seen any, although there was somebody putting a bunch of his stuff on Ebay not long ago. Must've sold out though, because they disappeared. You could almost RUN an online hobby shop reselling his stuff and nothing else! Lol.
  13. Wow, you did a great job on this! Love it!!
  14. Isn't that adhesive waterbased? Have you tried.....water? Also try rubbing your finger against the side of your nose and buff with that....natural skin oils will remove adhesives like that. Another method would be to put a small amout of WD-40 on a soft cloth and buff.
  15. That is simply georgous!
  16. I don't think ANY modern race cars have actual painted on lettering.....that was from the mid-80s back. And they didn't clearcoat over it then, it's just the lettering was just as glossy as the car itself, so clearcoating a model from that era would give the paint and the decals the same gloss. Around the mid-80s, they started using computer-cut vinyl stickers, that have sort of a matte finish, different from the paint. Today they use Wraps, as explained here:
  17. Up and going, George.....just picked up 2 kits there yesterday.
  18. Speaking as a former signpainter, lettering that is PAINTED on (as opposed to vinyl stickers or wraps) is as glossy, if not glossier, that the car it's painted on, so for darkside racers clearcoating would actually be more realistic.....as long as it's not TOO glossy. That being said, I don't really think there's a nickles worth of difference either way....like Brian said, personal preference. I can't remember ever looking at a Nascar model and saying "dang, he ruined it by clearcoating over the decals."
  19. I actually did built this kit last year, except I built it as a dirt track street stock race car, and with the front and rear covered in sheet metal, you can't really tell what kind of car it is............and it's not NEAR as nice as this one, lol.
  20. I think I might go, at least one of the days anyway.
  21. Very nice!!!
  22. That looks awesome!! Great work, as usual.
  23. That AMT kit doesn't have the SS hood. Somebody was casting that in resin...Time Machine, maybe? I think thats who it was...picked up one and an RS grille at a show a few years ago.
